The Book of Geomancers

Post by ManofTheAtom »

As those who have visited the new VALIANTEntertainment page have noticed, the site contains a Wikipedia-style VALIANT Universe Encyclopedia with summaries for the comics originally published by VALIANT.

This encyclopedia is for everyone in our community to become reacquainted with the stories and characters from the VALIANT Universe as VEI forges a new future for them. Feel welcomed to add and/or subtract from the entries that are currently available, as well as create your own.

As the author of much of the content in the wiki (taken directly from the comics), I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's reactions to it and hope that you enjoy my contribution to VALIANT's future.

Short post for such a massive work, but a well worthy #7000.

/Magnus

PS, I am enjoying the wiki right now. Fantastic work.

Oh, right, before I forget.

Any summaries that are missing (mostly Post Bquake) ARE coming. I should have the wiki done in about two months time, give or take, but those summaries will get done.

For now, enjoy the summaries that appeared in Previews.

What are the policies for contributing?

Would it be good or bad to add entries for Magnus issues?

To add info from the VCB? And if that's ok, under what headline?

Other things to think about, in order to keep a uniform feeling to the wiki?

Expand current entries as much as you want. The more information the better.
Would it be good or bad to add entries for Magnus issues?
I'm gonna defer to Dino on that.
To add info from the VCB? And if that's ok, under what headline?
You add what you want, I'll then place it in its proper place in the wiki (i.e. character, item, location, X).
Other things to think about, in order to keep a uniform feeling to the wiki?
If it's VALIANT, use the templates already provided for VALIANT-related items, characters, locations, and groups.

If it's VH 2, Crime, or other (i.e. Bad Eggs) use the Independent Properties-related templates in those sections.

But Dino has final say... I'm just making suggestions on what I've seen.

Hey MOTA! I recall posting something to the effect that VEI should put you to work writing or editing for them. Looks like I wasn't far off!
I'd like to see you contribute something to their actual comics at some point.
I just said something along the very same lines on my own message board today. Good job. :thumb:

This is the third best thing behind editing and writing for them (with editing being the first and writing being the second), heh

I am hoping that this opens the door for more opportunities with them.

The aim of the Book of Geomancer is to be all encompassing summary of the published material. Add whatever you feel is needed. I would love to see more characters added. :D

Tty to keep the entries written in character, you are a Geomancer when you enter data! (so no creator credits or articles on creators, sales etc.)

The top contributors will be listed each month on the front page of the Book of Geomancer as the Geomancers of the Month
magnusr wrote: Would it be good or bad to add entries for Magnus issues?

I asked Mota to avoid Magnus, Solar and Turok and anything related to these as I do not want to misrepresent VEI. If you would like to add them or related entries try and keep the minimal. The focus of the Book of Geomancer should be on Valiant.

Data written in your own words is preferred but not absolutly necessary.

There are six categories currently - Valiant Universe, Independent Properties (denoted by blue name bars), Characters, Items, Locations and Groups

That's right, I forgot that.

What he said.

I wrote the wiki in past tense because I wrote it in character as a Geomancer relating the stories in the future, a la Rai #0 (that was my preference when doing it, not a rule).

I also want to mention that you should feel safe to add as much content as you like. We will be watching the Book of Geomancer carefully and banning those who attempt to abuse it. The content will be safe. 8-)

Dino, can you tell us more about what is going on with the GK characters? I have to admit I was a little dissapointed not seeing any mention of them.

Ah, I'm more of a statistics guy. Good you mentioned this.

This answer confirms what we all knew but hoped would be solved.

If I do enter VCB data, I'll do it under another name, like Seaborn.

I took that from the Unity #4 trade, copied it as written by Seaborn, but took out the credit (at one point I credited him).

Maybe he should be credited as a Geomancer.

Hey! They use the VH-2 Bloodshot image for the VH-1 Bloodshot "Featured Article". They doctored up the eyes, but it's still the VH-2 Hairstyle.

MOTA!

You wrote that Jack sacrificed himself in 1991. I edited it to 1999.

Heh. Will THAT ever come back to haunt you! :P
