I do exactly as you state. I've folded the wraparound covers in on themselves and they've been bound so I can see both sides at once.Phoenix8008 wrote:Another question (that might have been asked already)- what do you do with wraparound covers like X-O #0? Fold them closed inside out so that they open with the whole thing visible?
Recently, though, Library Binding has, on their own, pulled a couple of the wraparound covers out and refolded them so that they become foldouts. I'm not sure which method I like better? I was never really happy about the inside out folding, but I've not sure I like foldouts either. I guess I don't have a real preference, yet.

Yes, I did. My Armorines book contains 17 issues in it -- 0-12 from VH-1 and the VH-2 mini-series.Phoenix8008 wrote:Steve, a question for you. Did you pull the Armorines #0 out of X-O Manowar #22 to add it into the Armorines book?
My overall goal is to completely bind every VH-1 and VH-2 comic into a series of approximately 45 or 46 hardcovers. And I want to put together coherent storylines. So for my Bloodshot books, I added the Secret Weapons crossovers issues for the Rampage storyline and for my Secret Weapons book, I bought additional copies of the Bloodshot books to add to that volume.
Same with my Unity and Chaos Effect books. Those books contain each individual comic pertaining to the respective storyline. And for the individual characters' hardcovers, I put in duplicates of the Unity and Chaos Effect books where needed.

That's what happens when I don't have it right in front of me.greg wrote:X-O Manowar #25...Phoenix8008 wrote:Steve, a question for you. Did you pull the Armorines #0 out of X-O Manowar #22 to add it into the Armorines book?
If you start ripping up #22, that would be a shame.

Thanks for the advice Steve. I've already begun getting duplicates for the crossovers as needed. At this point, my collection is going to be VH1 only. That's enough of a goal for me currently. It's what I knew and what I loved. When/if I get all of that done I'll see about getting variants and check to see if I think VH2 is worthy of keeping IMO.

I agree part of the fun in rereading old books it laughing at the cheesy ads.Steve Topper wrote:I bind everything ... part of it is I like to reread the ads as part of the experience. Brings back a lot of memories and when my kids read the books, they can see some of the popular culture that I experienced. Especially in my older books (non-Valiants)Phoenix8008 wrote:I am seriously considering doing my comics in hardcover like this as well. Although I think I would also miss the feel of a comic book in my hands. The hardcovers would look and feel great as well. Unfortunatly, It's not financially feasible for me to get two sets of all the Valiant stuff just so I can make HB's out of one set. So I have to decide if I want to have my only set be hardcover or keep them as seperate comics.
Right now, I'm 7 issues away from having 1-30 of HARD Corps and starting to think about whether to send them off for binding as I get each set done. This would space out the cost for binding them also. Not sure if I should put all 30 issues in one book or break it up into two.
A question for those that have bound books like this: Do you go through and remove pages if it happens to have an ad page on each side (so that the pages remaining still follow properly...ugh hope I'm explaining that okay). Like if you had story on page 14 (left side page when laying down open) then ads on page 15 and 16, then story on page 17. Would you cut out 15/16 to save space in the book before sending it away to be bound?
Lots to ponder...
I haven't bound HARD Corps yet, but my plan is to break it into 2 16 issue books. The 32 issues are just too big for one volume for me.
I also am binding my only complete set. I figured they were just sitting in the long box, not getting read and I wasn't ever planning on selling them, so why not bind them and actaully read them. So my complete set of VH-1 and VH-2 are going onto my bookshelf, not filed away in a long box.

Probably smart since Psi-Lords is gonna be a short book anyway with only 10 issues. I'll have to read them all through and see where that should be inserted into the timeline of the Psi-Lords issues.Chiclo wrote:I'd group it with Psi-Lords.Phoenix8008 wrote:BTW Steve, what did you put Destroyer #0 with? Or does it go into your miscellaneous book?

I can't help but feel if I found such longboxes that I'd slip into a Fred Sanford impression.Phoenix8008 wrote:Yeah, I don't have #1-4 yet of Psi-Lords, but I'm still hoping to find them in the massive quarter bins at my LCS. I've only scoured 8 of the 20+longboxes of stuff for a quarter. Otherwise I'll probably end up buying them off somebody here eventually.

Yes, it's very nice except that I don't have the funds to buy all of what they have of Valiant (which is quite a bit when you are starting from zero). On Friday I picked up around 60 books for $15 and set aside (hidden in the back of a quarter bin longbox) about 120 more Valiant books that I'm going back for in two weeks after my next paycheck. And I haven't even searched all the quarter bin boxes yet either! If they stay this productive throughout, I'll be picking up quite a bit of VH1 for a quarter a piece. Then I can hunt down the things to fill in the holes from there.

I just sent it out last week with my Solar collection.Phoenix8008 wrote:BTW Steve, what did you put Destroyer #0 with? Or does it go into your miscellaneous book?
I put the Solar 0 (Alpha & Omega) TPB with Solar 1-23 in Book 1; Solar 24-45 in Book 2; Solar 46-60, Destroyer 0, VH-2 Man of the Atom, Revelations, and Solar: Hell on Earth 1-4 in Book 3
Destroyer is probably a little out of order, but I thought Destroyer is Solar, so he belongs in the Solar collection. Psi-Lords is another thought, but I think I'm going to make a double book Geomancer/Psi-Lords (an 18 issue volume). Haven't gotten there quite yet, so I'm still thinking about it.

Hmm, now you got me thinking about that double book, PsiLords/Geomancer..
I mean, it makes financial sense for sure. Its not like they are mainstream issues.
Im going to need to think about where Destroyer goes
Ill take a look tonight. I dont want to make a mistake..
But its not like I cant grab another copy of Destroyer...

The ads are definitely part of the experience. I also like the back page where you get tid bits of Valiant info as well.JustCallMeAric wrote:I agree part of the fun in rereading old books it laughing at the cheesy ads.Steve Topper wrote:I bind everything ... part of it is I like to reread the ads as part of the experience. Steve Topper said back on page 3 or 4...
How much does it cost to have a die added to a book? (Not for creation of a die, but doing one that is already in existence.)
I think the cost was guesstimated at up to $60 for doing a die. What if those of us that were interested in binding our Valiants all contributed to have the die made for the Valiant compass at least and made available to all? I don't think I could afford to contribute to dies for all the series titles, but a one time contribution for the Valiant compass to put on all my books would be great by me.
What do all of you think?
About the dies... a question or two. Would these dies go on the spine or the front cover? They will keep them on file for your use only. However, if you tell them when you send them in that you are effectively donating them to any other binder, they have been known to discount the price of the die. And then anybody else can use the dies as well.

IIRC its 5 bucks to use a die once created for either the spine or the front.Phoenix8008 wrote:Steve Topper said back on page 3 or 4...About the dies... a question or two. At the books I want to use this option for Bloodshot and Magnus after a lot of deliberation I decided I want to use the logo on the spine. Like this example using Cerebus. The spine die of the valiant logo actually sounds quite cool.
