He probably is a member, but you would think that members would be wise enough not to throw away money like that on listing fees.

I added it up for fun while I was at work today :D . Roughly $3400 if you use NM values.

However, based on ZWH's experience, I have lost interest in thinking about how much it is worth to me.

You didn't happen to total up the wholesale value total too, did you? Buying in this quantity, you'd be a fool to pay anything more. If I were to total it up, anything besides pre-unity, late issues and variants wouldn't receive a value over $.05/book (which is more than Greg's wholesale). And there is a lot of common mung in there.

No, I didn't. I was only curious as to the guide value. No way I would pay guide for this lot (or any non-slabbed auction on eBay for that matter). When I look at a lot like this, I think about what I want for my own collection and what I would be willing to give for them. Then, I try and think about turning a profit on the rest. That equation would result in something FAR FAR lower than $3400.

There is just so much that could be said after that post :hm: ....

I think I'll just go with a very basic: what exactly were you hoping for?
As my friend tesajb would say, bewbs.

Elv runs a family show, though, and it would be a bit out of the ordinary for him to post such a link.

yes, I try to.

but for the record..... I did not post the link. I just said that I would not be clicking on it. :)

I hope he's not a member. If he is, he owes me a big fat apology for being a *SQUEE*.

What I think is funny is that he mentions strict OS grading. But unless I'm blind, I don't see a grade for these. And with someone saying he got mangled Batman books, I wouldn't go near this with a 10 foot pole. Taking a chance and buying it could be risky, but could be rewarding, IF you can turn some of the key books over to CGC and get 9.6 or higher, but unless you have that money to throw away, I wouldn't do it.

He says that this is his personal collection, but how many people only own keys in their collection, and sometimes 5-10 copies of those keys? My personal collection is exactly 1 of each comic, unless there is some type of variation I wanted, or signature. This is a person who probably went from store to store, hoarding all the books. I can't see a "kid" like he calls himself, acquiring multiple copies of golds and rarer incentives back then. He had an in, or maybe his dad owned the store.

If I was wealthy, I would actually buy this lot, or attempt to, and would piece meal it out to you collectors so you could own some of the rarer books. Personally I never cared for variations nor the signature series. I do own all the issues ever printed of the regular.

Let's see how this all ends. :)
