Reading Crossgen
Same as my Reading Broadway question....
What is the best way to read Crossgen. is there an order?
I've read the begining of Ruse, and Mystic. My Crossgen collection is growing. So.....
Any suggestions?
(it just that Valiant was so formed that there is a prefered way to read the universe, especially the begining.)

Yeah, agreed. For the most part, each book was self contained although they did have some minor crossovers, but nothing of great importance.cinlach@aol.com wrote:i think just the issues in numerical order...most of the universes were very self contained.
I would just pick a title and read it from the prequel to the end, and then start another book.

I kinda have a basic understanding of Crossgen (I think). I just wondered in I should read the First first.
And what is Crossgen Chronicles about? Is it a self-contained universe?

"The First" wasn't the first CrossGen book, rather it was a reference to the gods in the book. So read Negation firstElveen wrote:Thanks. You too Cin.Lightning Strike wrote:Yeah, agreed. Each issue of Chronicles featured a story about a character(s) from the sigil books. Kind of like how Marvel Team-Up featured a different Marvel character each month.Elveen wrote:And what is Crossgen Chronicles about? Is it a self-contained universe?

No offense, but that doesn't make any sense. Every title in the CrossGen U was self contained. You're better off reading each book from beginning to end.TDarke wrote:I would actually try to read Crossgen in publication order, if you can piece together how it was originally chronologically published. The stories flow pretty organically if you do that.

I'd have to look through my collection (or see if I can find it on the net), but I thought the Lawbringer book came out much later than issue #9 of Negation.Elveen wrote:Lightning Strike wrote:IIRC, it doesn't matter when you read it. Again though, I'm not positive on that and would have to check for sure.

I think there was a 1 page add for it in the back of the book.

Yeah, but there were some times when CG would advertise something that was MONTHS away from publication. That's why I'm thinking it came out much later than issue #9. Let me see what I can find out.Elveen wrote:Lightning Strike wrote:I'd have to look through my collection (or see if I can find it on the net), but I thought the Lawbringer book came out much later than issue #9 of Negation.Elveen wrote:Lightning Strike wrote:IIRC, it doesn't matter when you read it. It did come out after issue #9. I think I may have been thinking of Negation War

There were multiple crossovers between many of the titles, and all but the final few titles published all took place in the same shared universe. If you are going to read the "entire" Crossgen publication range, I still think publishing order is your best bet to read it as it was originally shipped out.Lightning Strike wrote:No offense, but that doesn't make any sense.
