Iron Man art opinion
I have a video game that I put on craigslist that someone offered to trade me a piece of iron man art for. I wanted to know what you guys thought about the trade. I dont know much about IronMan art or anything and was wondering what roughly the value if this piece is. I wouldnt keep the art, but need to get rid of this game as it is sitting on my parents backporch due to my wife and I recently splitting up. Anyway, here are pics of the game and of the art from Iron Man 192 with iron man vs the older iron man.
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!!!

It's currently on eBay...depluto wrote:It's a cool piece of art but I would imagine the video game is worth quite a bit more. On the other hand, the art would be a breeze to sell on ebay.

Yeah, the guy emailed me and said that he had it on ebay, but I dont really want it. All I would do would be trade him and then sell it. I like Iron Man, but really only have valiant art and even then I really dont have a clue what it is worth. I only know what it is worth to me.
I was considering the movie coming out, but if I got it I would flip it right away as I am going out of the country for about 4 months and need to raise funds.
Lets put it this way. IF you collected Iron Man art, what would you pay for it? I basically wanted to get at least 200 out of the game, but at this point I really dont care. I am supposed to leave in about 6 weeks and HAVE to make sure I get this off my parents porch by the time I leave. My mom is very impulsive and I can imagine getting home and asking where the game went and she saying that she got sick of it and threw it out to make room for furniture or something.

Hey Chris. In response to your PM:
That's an interesting swap you are considering....
As far as art pages go, I can tell you this: that page in particular would be desirable because it has several iconic Iron Man images on it, as opposed to a mundane story page. In that regard it would command more than other pages without as many action or armor shots on them as that one. Of course, it probably wouldn't sell as high as a cover page or a page drawn by someone like Mark Bright or Bob Layton, but I'd say it's still a great page to own. Note also that the story that it's from is partially involved in the Stane storyline, who is the primary villain of the movie (the page isn't Iron Man versus Stane, but it's from that very long arc).
The thing is that Iron Man is a niche fanbase and youll have an easier time flipping that page on the bay than the large, cumbersome game machine. Note though, that the guys current starting bid on eBay is outlandish, and although the movie will likely make Iron Man stuff more desirable, I doubt that page would ever sell that high unless there was a fluke bidding war between two neurotic people.
The fact is that although Id rather have the page than the game, but from a financial point of view, unless its a super duper key Iron Man page or one by a high profile IM artist (Layton, Colan, Bright, etc) then a page like that might sell for 225 at best. At best.
Id imagine that your game machine could sell for more than that to a video game guy, no? Buy the art page if you'll appreciate it, but dont put too much stock in that sellers feint move that that particular art page realistically commands that kind of price.
To put this in perspective, the most Ive dropped on an Iron Man art page was only a little over a bill and that was on a high profile Romita Jr. page (can you say "Super Star Artist"?) and it was from the Armor Wars II storyline.
What it boils down to is that to me, the trade is a no brainer, but I'd want the art rather than a cumbersome gaming machine. But if I wanted to make some cash, I'd sell the gaming machine, take some of the money and give the art guy some appropriate amount for the art page (I wouldn't go any higher for that page than maybe a hundo) and then flip the page on the bay when the "iron" is piping hot because of the movie.

I think I will do the trade if he is willing. He also has a few early spiderman issues that I wouldnt mind having so hopefully we can work something out.
The problem with the game is that it is so large that I cant ship it. Even if I get less out of the art, I would rather do that trade as I could list the game on ebay several times before I had anyone bite and it is on my parents back porch. I told them that when I got an apartment I would get it off, but the place I got is nowhere near large enough to have a game that size in it.
Thanks for all the responses!! I really appreciate it as I really have no idea what art is worth to everyone...Only what it is worth to me.
