Strikeforce Morituri
Any fans of Strikeforce Morituri and it's sequel on the boards? I initially encountered the series through a butchered/edited veriosn presented in the Marvel UK version of Transformers. After that I was given a later issue, but until getting into serious ebaying in the last couple of years was not able to look at assembling runs on both series.
I thought I would post having read all of the sequel (Electric Undertow) first - having managed to obtain that before the first series (I had to get both shipped to the UK from the US), and am now tucking into the first series (whereupon I will probably re-read the follow-up).
I love the premise, doomed engineered super-heroes fighting alien invaders, and it is set outside of the Marvel Universe. It seems that in the mid 80's Marvel tried some new things (no pun intended about the New Universe) which stilll stand up in concept, even if comics technology has moved on a great deal. With Newuniversal just starting, reading Strikeforce Morituri makes me think that conceptually this series would make a great idea for revisiting.
Any thoughts from others who have read this or considered it?
PS - I put it in Dead Universes because it is ostensibly outside the Marvel Universe, much like New Universe books.

He inked #1, and penciled #10 and #16siren3-4 wrote:I think only in issue # 17 right ? or did he pencil earlier issues ?ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:Whilce Portacio art!

He also penciled the Punisher story in Strange Tales #10.
He also penciled Punisher #8-18.
He also penciled X-Factor #63-69.
He also penciled Uncanny X-Men #281-292, except #287 and #288. (By FAR his best work....#281-284 are absolutely stunning. I'm sad Portacio art never "took off.")
He also penci....well, you get the idea.

He definitely peaked with X-Men...but his Punisher covers are some of the best Marvel covers of the modern age...of course once he joined image his art was totally cr@psiren3-4 wrote:I am actually a big Portacio fan . . . . THAT is some straight up, good advice. This is one Batman story that I really really tried sticking to ONLY looking at the words.X-O HoboJoe wrote:Stay away from Batman Confidential then.

I am very disappointed in Wilce's art on this one.... now his return to Wetworks is not that bad and I am enjoying it... so far. I just remember the Wetworks death spasms when the series ended. oh man, I just threw up in my mouth a little.

I read the series when it was originally published but I don't remember much of it other than it was a good read.leonmallett wrote:Any fans of Strikeforce Morituri and it's sequel on the boards?
