2099

Comic universes no longer active, Bravura, Continuity, CrossGen, Future, Malibu, Ultraverse... and others that are 'no longer with us' today (or only recently brought back).

Personally, I wouldn't consider it a DU. Yes, Marvel isn't printing anymore of those titles, but they DO still use those characters from time to time.

Miguel O'Hara, Spiderman 2099, joined the Exiles for a while.

They are retooling the series and it's coming back out as the New Exiles with more of an X-Men focus, featuring alternate versions of Sabertooth, Rogue, Kitty Pride, Mystique and the Earth 616 Psylocke. Spidey 2099 left the series a little bit back to work as a fry cook in a restaurant on a tropical island.

Yep, complete with a new life and no memory of his old one. Exiles was one of my favorite Marvel books, so hopefully, the relaunch will be just as good. I like that Grummett is going to be the new artist. That's a good start. But I'd like to see more non-mutant alternate characters join the team.

I wouldn't be opposed to non-mutants in the line up, but I count Exiles as one of the fringe X-titles like the (now defunct) New Excalibur.

As long as it has the letter X in the title, a Marvel book is probably going to centre around X-Men characters.

Yeah, I agree. It should feature muants, but I'm just saying I'd like to see at least two of them non-mutants. Maybe have 3 or 4 mutants, alongside 1 or 2 non-mutants. That way, it draws in fans that aren't big on the mutant books. Imagine an Exiles team lead by a alternate universe Captain America, and an alternate universe Black Knight on the team too. That would be cool!

Heh, no. :) I'm a big Cap and BK fan, but I was just using them as examples. I simply want to see a couple of the members on the team be non-mutants.

I think the Doom 2099 would be a good set to complete. It went on for a good amount of time, making it a little bit of a challenge to put together, plus the later issues have some small print runs. Plus it's Doom, so it's probably a decent read.

I think Doom 2099 made it into the low 40s.

Last issue might have been 44 or so.

I too am trying to complete this Universe and from what I've read which was like 10 to 15 years ago I really liked Doom 2099. Punisher 2099 got good when they crossed over with the World according to Doom storyline. Ghost Rider 2099 was real good also but the art got really crazy bad in the latter issues. Ravage 2099 I remember being OK in the beginning but just got real weird and cheesy as it went along (But I'm a completist and am trying to get a full run together and will reread all once Universe is completed) Never read Spiderman or X-Men 2099 but will once I get them all :thumb:

I really liked X-Men 2099. One of the best of the 2099 universe. I even have the complete run of the action figures. :thumb:

There are definately some hard to find issues in the 2099 universe. A Spider-Man 2099 35 cover A just went for 23.00 on eBay, including shipping, the Manifest Destiny one-shot is HTF and I've seen it go for some coin, and there are a few others I can't recall at the moment. Some of the last issues of the runs are HTF, though some, like the last issue of X-Men 2099, seem common.
Amazing Spider-Man 365, the hologram issue, is the first appearance of Spider-Man 2099. When Peter David was writing Spider-Man 2099 he brought into the series a character he wrote for Marvel's New Universe, John Tensen, Justice.
The Spider-Man 2099 Meets Spider-Man trade written by David is always popular.

That sounds like a pretty cool purchase you made. I love color guides and production art. :)

I bought the complete first issue of color guides of Spitfire #1 from Marvel's New U recently for around 50.00, so, yeah, not much attention.
Back on topic, most of the early issues of 2099 had very high print-runs, and as might be expected the later issues are often harder to find.

The last few issues of all the 2099 titles are a b i t c h to find.

I recently had an almost complete run which i put into my comic mart boxes and the last ten Spidey 2099 book i priced really high. Around £5-7.50 each
with the last issue £15.

The all sold at the first show with no discount. Lovely !!

The last original books they put out i think with some acetate cover and the last mini series are hard to get.

I started to hoard all the latter issues a few years ago but havent added to them in over a year.

is there a definitive list anywhere of what was printed?

To be honest i thought the whole concept was quite weak and based on Marvels need to get on with the next new idea that would help them dominate the dollar charts and had nothing to do with quality.

Saying that i did read some good spidey issues but i think possibly Doom was the book to read.

Xmen was poor at best and ravage was the ultimate dogmuck on a stick trick.

everything else ( punisher, ghost rider, hulk, x-nation etc) might not have been that good which is shocking considering some made double digits.

all imho of course

:)

We were working on a list for a while.

The thread is somewhere in this section. I'll give a go at finding it here in a bit.

That book ended with issue 100. Miguel O'Hara left the team, but I can't for the life of me say what issue. It was very near the last issue if not 100 itself.

He ends up as a cook in a restaurant on a tropical island and romantically involved with the proprietor.

Which I believe was the MJ of what ever Earth he ended up on (Earth 616 I believe) I really had to restrain myself from picking up a bunch of these at my LCS at cover price. Will E-Bay it and hope for better prices. Did pick up #100 though & Days Of Then & Now for cover :thumb:
