Well, at least the *SQUEE* is gone. We certainly don't need more.
Here was my counteroffer to his "offer":
If *SQUEE* would admit that he purposely overgraded the books for profit, and that he's an habitual overgrader, and that he has sex with small farm animals for fun, I would "apologize" for telling the truth about him on the boards.
Seems fair, doesn't it?

That may not matter. The postman usually ignores that anyway. I've received some books that had the "DO NOT BEND!" sign and they still arrived bent.Rubiks-Q-Bert wrote:You should allways ship something the way you would want to receive it. FRAGILE! DO NOT BEND! The secret is putting thick enough cardboard into the envelope so the mailman CAN'T bend it, at least not bend it easily. If it's very heavy cardboard and the postman went out of his way to bend it, that would be intentional damage and I would imagine you could report him for it.tanord wrote:That may not matter. wow
Wow - this is an interesting thread. I am not going to even try and get in this but will offer a bit of ebay logic:
It doesn't matter the amount of positives a person has if it exceeds 500-1000 - obviously you do this for a living (or should be) and you sell a lot of stuff- POSITIVE FEEDBACK SHOULD BE EXPECTED! If you don't expect to receive positive feedback for your transactions then I don't really want to do business with you anyways - I want someone that cares enough about the transaction that they genuinely want to make it a positive experience for BOTH PARTIES - I want someone that is going to be a little annoyed if I don't leave feedback after a given period of time (I don't mean throw a fit - just care enough to be annoyed).
Positive feedback represents the 'reward' offered for a successful transaction on ebay - everyone likes rewards; and for the most part 95% of the buyers will reward the sellers for a good transaction - but here is the kicker - most of the time they will give positive feedback EVEN IF THE TRANSACTION DIDN'T TURN OUT SO POSITIVE- it simply depends on how the SELLER HANDLED THE TRANSACTION.
If you handle it good; meaning you treat the buyer with respect and try and rectify the situation to the best of your ability - you will most likely be rewarded (maybe not all the time but I would say 70% of the time in my experience - and if the buyer is trying to pull a fast one then you have a unique situation on your hands and each situation warrants it's own set of actions - good luck - I don't necessarily hold back and I can't say that you should either - thieves are thieves - they deserve to be dealt with...)
Now - if you handle the situation badly then I recommend bookmarking this thread so you realize exactly what can happen if you don't respect the individual - it isn't you - it's just that:
PEOPLE GENUINELY DON'T LIKE BEING TREATED LIKE CRAP AND DEFINITELY DON'T LIKE PAYING FOR STUFF THEY DIDN'T ORDER - DESCRIBE THE AUCTION EXACTLY THE WAY IT IS OR EXPECT TO BE IN EMAIL WARS OVER THE PRODUCT(S).
My 2 cents....
Don't post much but this caught me - and if you don't hear from me until after Xmas/New Year - everyone have a safe and enjoyable holiday season.

Well, after a couple of good auctions with him, he finally screws me too.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0226473957
I opened it today and it was the advnace comic preview in lieu of the comic defense preview shown. That was the ONLY reason I even bid on this.

Have you contacted him?
Let us know the response. If you haven't contacted him, don't tell him you're part of VF.com....don't wanna "taint" the response.

Oh, and Chain had a GREAT deal with him, too.....
I have the feeling, though, that it's LUCK, not SKILL, that gets him through most of his sales. After all, "NM" is what most comics start life as, and any reasonable care will keep them 9.0 or above, generally. So, if he happens to run across some genuine NM books, he calls them NM, and it works.
If he runs across VG books, he calls them NM, and it doesn't work.

Looks like you paid $8.09 for 7 quarter (or worse) books, too. Bummer. And those Deathmates look rough.tanord wrote:And you paid $7 for shipping.Fanboy375 wrote:Well, after a couple of good auctions with him, he finally screws me too.

So this is where we are at:ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:Let us know how it works out.
Dear wileycoyote373,
I got the comics in the mail yesterday (I have been out of town for the past week). I opened the envelope and to my dismay the Deathmate preview was the cheaper "advanced comics" version in lieu of the "Comic Defense" version pictured in the auction.
I would request a refund of my money (shipping and auction) since this auction was not as described.
Thanks,
- broncosfan375
My response:wileycoyote373 wrote: Dear broncosfan375,
Hi,
I am very sorry for my mistake. I assure you it was unintentional.
I will be happy to either;
a) send you a refund immediately upon receiving the books back in the same condition that I sent them
or
b) I will be happy to refund you the .99 cents for the auction and you can keep the books.
Please let me know which you prefer.
Thanks,
Josh

Dear wileycoyote373,
I should not be punished for shipping for your mistake. I will ship them back to you at your cost and in addition you can refund me my full amount.
Thanks,

In that case, why don't you hold on to the rest of the books. I do not want to pay for sending dead weight back and forth for a $1 listing.
Just tell nme what you think is fair.

Dear wileycoyote373,
What i think is fair is that I get the book that was in the auction that I paid for or a complete refund. That book was the only reason I purchased the auction. The rest are quarter books in vf to f condition.
Thanks,
Jonathan

And now no response after five (5) days. I am thinking of just negging his *SQUEE* and walking away.wileycoyote373 wrote: Dear broncosfan375,
I will look for it in my Valiant stock. If I have it, I will ship it to you.
I offered this as a set. Did I make a mistake and ship your set to the wrong person?...and you theirs.....apparently.
I am happy to rectify the situation with you in fair manner. I sell thousands of comic books a week. As I said, I would look for the comic book for you. If I find it, I will happily send it to you. If I can't find it, I do'nt think I should pay $10 round trip in this instance. The comic books sold for .14 cents each minus ebay's commission.
I offered a lot of 7 comic books in this auction, not one book. If you only wanted the one book, you should have told me and you then could have saved on the shipping.
Maybe you can find something else from my listings, and we can work it out.
Please check my feedback. I am a reasonable person.
Sincerely,
Josh

At least he's being reasonable....for a change.
So, give him his chance. Ask if he found the book. If he did not, I would say this: "As I said, the only reason I bid on this lot was for this one book. Likewise, I had no way of knowing you would include the wrong book in the shipment, so how could I possibly known to ask you just to ship that one book? I paid $8.09 for this lot, and I can see by the postage that it didn't cost you $7.10 to send this, so you made a bit more than 14 cents/book. In reality, however, these books are worth even less than that. People commonly use Deathmate as packing material. So...as a compromise, I propose that you refund me $6.34. Since these 7 books, as stated, are worth less than a quarter, I'll compromise and pay you $1.75 for them. That's more than fair."
Which, in fact, is quite true. I wouldn't pay 25 cents for all 7 books. They're PACKING MATERIAL.
See what he says.
And then file a Paypal complaint if he doesn't. He failed to ship the SINGLE book that made you willing to pay $8+ for a lot of 5 cent books.
And it wouldn't be his first Paypal complaint....

It HAS been me, with this guy, in the same situation: not delivering what was offered.Elveen wrote:He seems like he is intrested in trying to make it right somehow.
But if it was me, I might feel a bit different about it.
And, at least this time, he's being more reasonable.
Clearly, that's not the case with his previous interactions, as this thread attests.

But the other half of that is coming up with a fair partial refund if he doesn't want to spend the money. If you think a fair partial refund is 50 cents (and one can hardly argue with that), then that's what he should give you back and let you keep the books.Fanboy375 wrote:I agree.ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:It's not appropriate to ask for a full refund AND keep the books.
I don't want a refund and the books. I offered to ship the books back at his cost (i.e. he pays return shipping and refunds me my money).
But NOTHING isn't fair. A token amount is better than nothing.
You will have to settle for one of the two options. Frankly, I prefer partial refunds, because then I can give the books away.
