. . have you read any of the Wizard Ace edition comics ?Zool wrote:Finally got hold of the first two TPB's of Alan Moore and Alan Davis' Miracleman (which is ace).
And the first five collections of Grant Morrison and the woefully underrated Steve Yoewell's Zenith (which is ace).
Also reading Matt Wagner's Mage, which is nearly ace.
. .or maybe Aztec Ace ?
. . . or some classic golden age Ace Comics ?

Next is the Ronin books.
Ok.... so I was only able to read a few pages of #2.... (I got the "daddy come here" call).... but I was a bit confused. What is the setting? Can someone explain what I missed in #1 without giving away the entire story?
Help a borther out?

It starts with some Aleister Crowley types doing some ritual in a basement. They do the ritual, and a pale dude wearing a helm and a ruby around his neck shows up in the middle of the magic circle. They imprison him in a giant globe for about a hundred years, until the son of the man who imprisoned this pale guy is an old man himself.Elveen wrote:Elveen wrote:I just read Sandman #2 and #3 reprints.... great. Eventually, the pale guy gets free, and he is a bit angry that he has been captured, and that his helm and his ruby were taken away from him. Vengeful action ensues.
I think you can figure out who this pale dude is. Hint: the comic is named after him.

Just finished Umbrella Academy #2, and I love these books. The art is similar to Mignola's which give the book a very Hellboy feel. The writing is not far removed from Mignola's work either, it also hints at Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol, but manages to be unique and engaging.
These are some of the best books I've read in a long time! Give 'em a try!

Written by a Senator, long, kind of blah, and ineffective? This surprises you?Jay Tomio wrote:Right now reading Dark Knight Archives Vol 1 (first 4 Batman issues). Not too far into (and I have read these in other forms before) it but what jumps out at you immediately is how hardcore the Joker is from the jump.
Another thing (and this may be an odd observation to some) was the intro was written by a Senator and honestly it was kind of blah - kind of long and not really an effective forward in my mind. Very formulaic.
