I bought a case of 100 X-O zeros for 10.00 recently and about a 1/3 were the ivory printing error.
Wow, close to 33 out of 100. So much for being "rare".....

Yeah, we need to do a favor to those bidders and report the item so it will get pulled

Should have left it alone. Anybody who pays that much for that book deserves it.

I know you well enough that I don't bother with an auction when I see you are the high bidder. And I know I am not alone. I don't think anyone bothers bidding you up anymore.

I think I remember hearing that someone outbid you once. Once.

But, all that aside, you should look into doing some trading here. We'd love a crack at some of your overstock, and might have some things for sale in the community that might interest you.
The skill is not outbidding a player like Imagesowner2....any fool with money can do that...

The skill is in winning the same item for 1/10th the price he pays...... :thumb:

does everyone always bash me like that?

Hey Bronco, did you find the VVSS books I sent you?
I've bought from you maybe....I dunno...twice in the last 7 years....

Something last year....but I don't quite remember what. I'd have to peruse your FB to see when, and then locate the Paypal payment...not that it's important. ;)

I wonder what I bought..........

There was some set of *SQUEE* out of Texas, selling absurdly rare Vampirella Blues...auctiondivatexas, I think.....sent me a "NM" Vengeance #25, which is just impossible to find, that would grade a solid 7.5-8.0 at the ol' CGC.

Did you ever buy any of the tremendous lots that icomics sold back in 00-01? They were out of Tennessee, and I SWEAR they were the ones who had access to the American Entertainment/AU variants.....to this date, they are the ONLY people I've ever seen with multiple copies of AE books that they were selling all at the same time.

I was doing business with them over a period of months, because they'd list variant after variant after variant for just ridiculously low prices (example off the top of my head: Wildcore #1 chromium, in lots of 20, sold for $10)....and then, they were booted from eBay, and I still had quite a bit that I had won....but was now hesitant to pay, because they were booted (and this was back in the "send me a check" days.)

I got some stuff, but the vast majority I won I never bought.

Did you ever get anything from them?

I believe that books like Danger Girl #2 Booty variants are tied up in a warehouse SOMEWHERE on the east coast....

Since then I am much closer to completing my collection, yet still so far away. I got no problems with you personally, would I have bid more if I could have, sure. You posting on here makes it much more difficult to hold any anymosity towards you. Stick around, the place is a blast. And don't worry for whatever reason the "deep pockets" will always catch grief for winning. Just throw your "crumbs" our way if you have extras laying around.
I've always said...if you want to play, you have to pay. ;)

I have ZERO problem with bidding some insane amount on a book or lot because I need it....in August or so, I bid $216.69 on a Rawhide Kid lot that included #18, 19, 20, and some others.....and Guide for these books in those conditions was something like $50-$60 total.

I lost.

I was the second high bidder, and I sent off a "congrats on being even MORE insane than I am!" eBay note to the winner, and a "You're welcome for my bid" to the seller, since the next high bid was around $125.

Same with a Cerebus #1, original, about 4-5 years ago....my bid was $127.69, it sold for $130.19.....and the NEXT high bid was $60.

No foolin.

I'm sure the high bidders wished I wasn't around...but then, I wish the same on them. ;)

There are very, VERY few comic things that are so rare that they simply never come up for sale, so if you're like the vast majority and only collect accessible books, there's no problem.

Like I said....the real game isn't in outbidding the "deep pockets" (and I guess I might qualify as one of those on a very broad scale)...the real game is buying the same things they do for 1/10th what they have....that's the skill part. ;)

imagesowner2 wrote:I sold mine for $20.00 , I don't see this one going very high at all. but you never know.

Good case in point. I knew a guy in Florida who had 3 or 4 (can't remember) copies of the Bloodshot Platinum error. he sold them all at cover price because he thought it was no big deal. then, as you all know they recieved alot of attention and have sold for upwards of $1000 or more.

Thats why I say you never know. CGC certified this as a legitimate error book which does carry some weight.
This is simply a case where CGC is legitimately wrong, and will correct it.

You cannot compare Bloodshot Plat with an X-O "Ivory".
maybe not to everyone here on the boards who think (just as my friend in Florida did) that this is no big deal at all. there are people in this world who crave error books. Double covers, inside out covers, die errors. color errors, Blah blah blah.

now I know that this one is more common than the platinum by far(hell, i have at least 6 or 7 more myself) but it is different. and for people who collect error books, this is a gem

so I don't judge the book because of my opinion, I judge it for what it is worth. Clearly collectible to someone who loves this kind of stuff.

and I hope Key comic does finally sell it for something, because as of right now they are in the hole with listing fee's.

'Nuff said
Keycomics didn't do his research. Simple as that.

God bless 'im, but he simply didn't do his research, and is trying to capitalize on something that doesn't exist. He would have been FARRRRRR better off had he simply done exactly what he did, but started the auction off with no reserve and a penny bid. He might have gotten several hundred dollars out of it.

Now?

Not nearly as much, if anything.

Sadly.....he won't get back the money he's now invested to hype this "rare, one of a kind." Now, maybe he'll write it off as "advertising", but let's get real.....eBay advertising is damn near worthless.

imagesowner2 wrote:By cover price, I mean cheap. the Platinum had no cover price. he did not price it any higher than regular. I actually considered buying them all but ( as always) decided to get a more important book like Spidey or G.I.Joe, whichever i liked more at the time. probably Joe. I still have complete sets of Joe I refuse to sell.

Point of my raving is this. Someone thinks this books is special. and apparently so does CGC .

I think we are all looking through our piles of x-o #0 and pulling out all the "Ivory" copies we have .

Just in case.

Am I right?
Um.

No.
