But then I found some things on the net that made that pale in comparison. Ultimate Dr. Doom was orginally part of a government think tank and got transformed in the same accident that transformed the Fantastic Four turning him into a metal man with goat hooves (apparently the movies took some inspiration from this).
And Ultimate Cable? He's actually Wolverine from the future.![]()
No, I'm not kidding.

The Ultimate universe suffers from many ills.
On the plus side, some of the characters are unique entities, with a different take on the charcter or the name proving to be an interesting change, or just good, solid storytelling helping it along (ex: Ultimate Spiderman, Ultimate Ronin, the first two Ultimates series, etc.). Ultimate Nick Fury is awesome, for the record.
On the minus side of things, we have many character continuity conflicts (two different Silver Surfers in play (one from the Ultimate Galactus series of stories, and a "traditional" one in a recent UFF arc), two different Eddie Brocks, etc.), some *very* poor character choices that end up just being retreads of the 616 versions of the character (Ultimate Daredevil/Elektra, Ultimate Punisher, etc).
The future for the Ultimate line doesn't look too good either, as Ultimates 3 seems to be going in a 180 from the previous direction, and will be including pretty much standard versions of the charcters that make up the 616 Avengers teams. That, and I'm just not too fond of the art style that will be used... *sigh*

Yeah the art on the preview on Utlimates 3 left me scratching my head (plus how is Vemon strong enough to kick the a** of ALL the Avengers/Ultimates/whatever-their-called?). And I read online the Ultimate Silver Surfer that resembled the real one was the herald of...Psycho Man!?! I mean, most likely it's just a set up for a much more interesting origin that will link back to Ultimate Galactus (or whatever they call it) but even as a one time thing that's kind of lame. However, it is a lot of fun to say Ultimate Ultimate NullifierByrneout wrote:The Ultimate universe suffers from many ills.
