Story goes Aircel (Barry Blair & Co) ran into finacial troubles and Malibu bailed them out. Later on Blair just sold out the company to Malibu. Then Malibu ran Aircel as an imprint with the more racey titles like Debbie Does Dallas, Hooters, etc.greg wrote:Was the whole company bought simply for Men In Black,
or is there more to the story than that?
Later on Marvel bought Malibu (mostly for the Ultraverse) but gained titles like Men In Black, Shuriken, etc.

IIRC he kept Elflore and Elfheim which are companion titles to his Elflord series. He has printed these (mostly Elflord) back and forth between Aircel and his old NightWynd publishing company (even Warp) but nothing has come out in about 10 years or so.

Then you might want to consider grouping Aircel, Monkey Press, Nightwynd (Night Wynd) into one DU as all three were the known publishing companies of Barry Blair's characters (he also printed under the Warp label as well).Knightt wrote:Yes, I think they would be (I need a list) and I also plan on possibly picking this DU up as well but man, I GOTTA space these out !!!!siren3-4 wrote:Is aircel a Dead U . . .???

to make matters worse...the 1986 Aircel ElfLord series (think it ran some 30 issues) is commonly identified as the "original" series incorrectly. In fact this series is predated by 2 Elflord series (VOL 1 x15 issues and Vol 2 x1 issue) published in the early 1980s (Night Wynd).
Now here's the kicker, both of the early Elflord series (Night Wynd) had a limited regional distribution (Ottawa Canada) and publishing 400-500 (Vol 1 #1 and #2 that I know of - the other 13 not sure).
