-Neil Cameron a valiant story

Post by ncameron »

My valiant story is probably not unique, I had heard of valiant when I was around 12-13 so this would have been 92-93 era, but I do not believe I picked up a valiant book until Hard C.O.R.P.S #1, for the Jim Lee cover. The fact that the book was awesome certainly didn’t hurt but I mostly stuck with that title and later got into Bloodshot, the chromium cover still catches my eye when flipping though my long boxes.

I got into other books like Magnus, and Rai and the Future Force, but fell out of comics in the mid 90’s.

I started buying again in college, but it was the recent purchase of the Harbinger Hardcover that really got me back into the Valiant books. I have now gone bin diving for Harbinger and Hard Corps back issues. The plan is to get Hard Corps bound into one huge Volume collecting 1-30, Harbinger I plan on going from 8-24 for one book and 25-41 for the other. I am also considering going out and getting a Unity book collected with all 18 parts.

After I do those 3 who knows, I may try to get a run of Bloodshot and Ninjak.

But I must say if nothing else of all the books I saved in my parents basement all those years before they unloaded it once I bought mine, the Valiant issues tended to read as well as I remembered. Not always true with my X books that were form the same era.

-Neil Cameron

Ps. After lurking on these boards I need a Sting Penguin, or a Bloodshot one, does anyone know the schedules for the next ones?

Good to meet you, Neil!

H.A.R.DCorps is one of my favorite Valiant series as well. You should be able to put together a run of what you need pretty easily and cheap on this board.

Welcome! Who knew that HardCorps was good enough to create a Valiant fan?

So, have you read all of the Valiant stories by now, or are there some you've missed?

(For example, I didn't see a mention of Solar #1-#10...) :thumb:

Welcome, friend.

I think Hard Corps was the first Valiant ongoing series I completed.

It was certainly the easiest for me to complete, hence it being my "first" in that regard.

The sign up list for the penguins is already full. You can put your name down as an alternate if people decide to opt out of future ones though.

Oh, and welcome aboard.

Welcome to the Boards! I remember grooving on that jim Lee cover for H.A.R.D. Corps 1 when it first came out. I was (still am) a big X-Men fan too. This is a great place to find those missing issues. Good luck!

The only solar I had the opportunity to read was some post-unity I picked up at the time. Although and this may be cringe worthy i really liked the way solar was used in deathmate.

As it stands though I am hoping that from the quality of the Harbinger beginnings that VEI can somehow get the reprint rights to the solar and magnus issues.

Also thanks to everyone for the kind welcome, this has been by far one of the more welcoming message boards I have ever been on.

The early Solar and Magnus stories are just as good as the early (issues 0 - 7) of Harbinger. Awesome stuff.

Unfortunately, nothing was really spared from the suckiness that eventually saturated Valiant. I was a sad kid when the comics started to be not so good.

The real addiction is getting multiple copies of Pre-Unity material and giving them a loving home. I've saved several Solar, Magnus and XO from lives spent in bargain bins.

Nope, Former Murder Capital of the Country one.
I root for the Tigers, Lions, Pistons and Red Wings, so its pretty much as MI as you can get.
