Best MARVEL & DC books out right now
I have about as much interest in buying new comics as K-FED has in "gettin' some" from Britney right now
But we seem to have a very knowledgeable board when it comes to new comics now.
What would you guys recommend?
Green Lantern I know. What else.
And I'm looking for stuff that is really "unmissable". Like "great" books. Rather than say stuff that is like "oh thats kinda neat"
and why the fck am i using the " " so much

From Marvel--Thor, Iron Fist, Daredevil and X-Factor are awesome! As for DC, I love GL, GL Corps, JSA & JLA.cobra_commander wrote:I have about as much interest in buying new comics as K-FED has in "gettin' some" from Britney right now

There was an interview on Newsarama last week where PAD said his stuff on She-Hulk will have funny moments, but it wil be a lot more serious and it won't focus on being humorous all the time the way Slott did.Tim Petty wrote:Everything I've read says Peter David's still going to keep it silly. If he doesn't, I'm jumping off.Lightning Strike wrote: That's going to change in a month though when PAD takes over writing the book. That's when I'm jumping on board.

I love X-Factor. If there was any writer born to write Jamie Madrox, it was PAD. This is one of those books that is carried by the writing, and the strong characterization. Not that the art is bad, it's just not top notch.Dr. Solar wrote:I am about a month behind on reading ANY new comics, but I have really liked X-Factor. It's the only book right now from Marvel that I would recommend as being an example of really good comics.

I love Peter David's work but if that's the case he's going to lose the entire fan base that the title has built and it'll be canceled. Mark my words.Lightning Strike wrote: There was an interview on Newsarama last week where PAD said his stuff on She-Hulk will have funny moments, but it wil be a lot more serious and it won't focus on being humorous all the time the way Slott did.

I doubt that. Do they read the book because it's funny or because they like the character?Tim Petty wrote:I love Peter David's work but if that's the case he's going to lose the entire fan base that the title has built and it'll be canceled. If it's the former, then yeah, they're probably not going to like the new direction.
If it's the latter, then the fans will continue reading it, especially if his run on She-Hulk is anywhere near as good as his run on the Hulk.

Was the she hulk civil war tie-in issue humurous as well?Lightning Strike wrote:I doubt that. I don't know, I didn't read that one. I stopped buying She-Hulk after the first couple issues of the most recent run. But I'm definitely going to be back for PAD's run.cobra_commander wrote:Was the she hulk civil war tie-in issue humurous as well?Lightning Strike wrote:I doubt that. Marvel:
Captian America (before or after the death, it's an excellent read)
Thor
The Annihilation books
World War Hulk (the miniseries itself)
DC:
Legion of Superheroes starting in December when Shooter takes over
If I could interject some non DC/Marvel books into the mix I recommend BPRD and The 99.

I don't buy new comics anymore, not when if you wait a few months, you can find most of them in a store's bargain bin. For example, I was pretty jazzed when I saw Neal Adams was going to do a short X-Men story in Giant Size X-Men #3, however, I think the price was $3.99 or something like that, so I passed on it. Just this past week, the local shop I found with the quarter bins had a stack of this book, all for a nice shiny quarter each.
