Shadowman 2 Sold For 331.00

Post by StarBrand »

Did anyone notice the Shadowman 2 CGC 9.8 that just closed at 331.00 on the Bay? Wow. Are they that hard to find in 9.8?
I also noticed a Magnus 13 in CGC 9.8 that went for 349.00 a couple weeks ago.

There were 3 different bidders that bid at least 257.00 for the Shadowman 2, 4 different that bid at least 151.00, so I guess that's pretty solid.

Very surprising 3 different people bid so much. The Magnus 13 surprised me too.

Normally, I'd advise that you have to want it, but I believe that you wanted it.

That's nuts. If anyone wants mine I would gladly remove it from my registry set for $300 and send it to you. I can surely find a raw copy that will grade 9.8 to replace it.

The reason it went for so much is that it hasn't been up for auction for as long as I can remember in 9.8! There are so many of us CGC nuts that need it for our registry set's, that is what is dictating the very, very high price. :o

We all want it to increase our points score.

Also remember it's got a tricky black cover that is a *SQUEE* to get in 9.8.

ps CBK I'll take you up on your offer in a months time, unless another one comes up for sale.

I went through all my copies of Shadowman 2 last night, but none are good enough to grade at 9.8 :(

Makes you wonder what a Harbinger 1 in CGC 9.8 would go for. :hm:

Didn't the last sale go for around $800?

That's what I heard. Any idea how long ago that was?
This kind of makes watching CGC prices on Valiants even more interesting. What other books are out there that haven't listed in awhile that would go for 300.00+ like the Shadowman 2 and Magnus 13? :hm:

There's no doubt 2 and 3 are tough with the black spines. 1-3 aren't easy in general since the cover stock on these was reatively light and the books can be wavy.

But, let me trod out Greg's old argument - how many raw copies could you get for the $300? And how many would be candidates? If you could pick up 50 books (not hard for shadowman 1-3) and get 5 candidates...Anyway just something to think about.

Of course, I had two PMs from people wanting to take me up on my offer above. :!: I'm giving them a 2-week cooldown period to come to their senses and then I am going to make that deal.

This thread is really making me want to go back to this LCS that had 2 packs of unopened Shadowman 2's that never made it to the rack. Never knew the demand is this high for 9.8's.
