I had no idea that Future Comics did ashcans...
I loved Future Comics and totally lament their demise. Tell me more about the ashcans, yo!

I have two, one of Peacekeeper 1 and Freemind 8. They were unpublished issues and are ashcan size (about half the size of a regular comic) They are made out a diferent type of paper and are full color.

Peacekeeper? I didn't think that those ever made it to press. Are you sur that they aren't bootlegs made on someone's computer off of the high res scans that Layton was putting up on his site? Did Future Comics actually publish those?

Yes, Future published them. I've never seen them, but Bob Layton has talked about the ashcans on his web site a few times in the past. Maybe J-D can scan the two he has, I'd like to see them.

They were published by Future Comics. I think they were produced around the time when Future was attempting to go from monthlies to GNs only. I received my METALLIX one when I ordered direct from the Future Comics store.

I'm sure if you email Layton, he'd have a better explanation for you.

Metallix #7 is available at Bob layton's website as a free download. if you can't find an ashcan anywhere (like myself) I guess you can print your own (like I did). :thumb:

Here are the links for part 1 and 2 of the story:

Part 1: http://www.boblayton.com/Archive/Octobe ... xpart1.htm

Part 2: http://www.boblayton.com/Archive/Novemb ... 7part2.htm

He also has links for other unreleased Future comics there in his archives including Deathmask #4 and 5, Freemind #8 and Peacekeeper #1. :thumb:
