American Flagg???

Post by MedicAR »

Once again, I go outside of the Valiant Universe looking for goodies to buy. I need the first American Flagg series #1-50 in high grade condition. I didn't know these were hot until I tried to replace them on eBay! :!: Mine are damaged, anyone wanting to trade for a collection with some "minor" whiskey staining on them, let me know! :P (My copies of these books reek like the dead now!)

Also, I might be able to trade with you, I have a nice Harby Pink and an A&A Gold as well as tons of commons!

Thanks!!

They're hot because there was just an article about them in a recent Wizard...

By amazing coicidence, I wouldn't have spilled the whiskey if not for Wizard and their lies! Lies I tell you!!! I was reading some crap about Captain Planet being hot now and began a "Godzilla Dance" and managed to waste some Maker's Mark and my AF collection at the same time.....

A bunch of the early issues are available in junk bins around here. I'd been considering giving it a whirl, but couldn't find #1. I sometimes pick up junk bin series when I can start from the begining.

I really love the early American Flagg issues. Chaykin was ahead of his time with that stuff. Still vibrant and relevant today...it deserves to be hot. And if you can get them cheap....by all means do!

Chaykin did Power and Glory too, right?

I only read the four-issue miniseries, and loved it. Are there any more?

$80? Oh jesus, mary and joseph...another lazy sap who can't be bothered to look for himself.

They ARE quarter bin books, they are NOT hard to find in ANY regard, and currently one should not be paying more than a quarter for ANY books except #1 (50 cents) and #21-28 (Alan Moore stories) $1 each.

They definately are quarter bin books, but there aren't any quarter bins to speak of in my area. I'd be happy to dig through long box after long box if there were any to dig through!! :!:

That's why I posted here, I hoped somebody in a larger area might help me out, especially since I've had such GREAT help in finishing my Valiants! :thumb: There's some really good people here with access to much larger stores than I can hope to get to.

I emailed you a list of about half of what youre looking for. Let me know if you are interested, maybe we can do some horse trading. Thanks!
When I was five, I dragged my dad into "Mike's Comic Hut"... If only I'd known..

I did some horse trading once but never again as I got burnt. I forgot to look in the horse's mouth.

Just those four and the holiday special, I think.

The first twelve issues are being reprinted by Image Comics, I think. Wasn't it supposed to be in stores in November?

Okay, just looked through the auctions.

$29 for the first 8 issues:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 64749&rd=1

$14.64 for the first 5 issues:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 13568&rd=1

1-28, 46-60, two specials for $62.30:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 62844&rd=1

And for Vol. 1 #1-50, Vol. 2 #1-12, it's $86:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 13911&rd=1

That's only a couple--the other ones had low or no bids. So I'd be hesitant to say that this is going to be a recurring thing.

I think the thing with this is that someone would want to try to get the entire set all at once just to read the story in one sitting. These DO come up in bargain bins, but since I have no idea where the buyers of these auctions are located, I don't know if they're in an area where the only bargain bins that their comics shops have are filled with solely 90's stuff. And if they do have these, there's the off-chance that a COMPLETE run doesn't show up in said bargain bins.

And WIZARD actually did reccomend AMERICAN FLAGG before, but in a small column called "Good and Cheap" in 1994. It's only recently that they plugged the thing several times in one issue.
