I couldn't find Harbinger:The Beginning on DCBS, neither of my LCS's got them in, and Impulse is sold out of them.

You must pray to the comic gods, only then will you gain free comics from the sky.

So hows it work to get new comics through the mail from those sites? Are they sent to you as they come out (week by week)? How are they packaged? How much lead time do have to give them if you want to add a new title or drop one off your subscription?

I believe some of the guys have placed orders with them by contacting via email. They aren't listed on their site probably because they do not have them in stock yet.

As an alternative, we have several dealers on the board who can provide you with a copy.......daydreams, paradise, etc.

Here's some info from another thread............

From my LCS... I like to send the $ his way. I did have to go to Amazon for the HC though. :)

with dcbs and mail order comics
you can opt for
monthly
bi monthly
or weekly shipping
its all up to you
i do bi monthly i think its like 12 bucks for mine and they just mail out the
1 and 15 of each month
ill get the harby hc on the 15
:thumb: :thumb:
its just easier for me with not having a comic store closer then 25 miles and its cheeper
discounts are around 35 or more percent (specials can run 75% off ) at dcbs
im not sure on mailordercomics discounts, ive been told its close though.

so, if you choose, say monthly shipping, they auto bill your credit/bank account and ship the books you listed?

woohoo, 100th post, only took me 3 years, plus about 3 years before the reboot.

From DCBS it's 5.95 for monthly shipping, 9.95 for bi-weekly shipping, and 13.95 for weekly shipping.

I get weekly shipping and even with 13.95 a month going to shipping i still save $50-60 a month on my comics. Plus they'll bag and board them for .10 a book. I don't know anywhere you can even get bags and boards that cheap.

my LCS bags and boards everything that comes through my pull box, most stuff on the racks have bags and/or boards, and I'd say the back issues are probably all bagged and about half of those are boarded.

That's nice of them. What kind of discount do they give you? The last LCS I frequented either bagged and boarded your books or gave you an 8% discount.

10%, plus they have a "taking out the trash Tuesday's" where you get 20% off back issues, after they moved they didn't reinstate this discount. They had 15% off Heroclix but after they moved, they stoped carrying Heroclix

another LCS, B&M, only offers 5% discount, but it is on all comics, back issues, new releases, variants and their "glass box" comics. despite them only offering 5%, I love the place, it's nearly wall-to-wall with long boxes of back issues, the man's got stuff from the 60's and prior, lots of original Doctor Solor and Magnus, even if I can't afford half the stuff they have, I admire the quantity of quality comics. In addition to that, they have about 15,000 unsorted comics that they acquired from I guess bought out comic stores. Where this place really impresses me, is their free comic book day sales, 20% off any new comic or action figure, and I think 35-40% off back issues and glass boxed stuff. The glass box being where they recently displayed their Avengers #49-60 complete run. Now to start saving up for free comic day to wipe them out.

yeah the atmosphere of comic shops are awesome, despite whether you get a great deal or not, but sometimes, you just gotta do what's cheapest.

You must be going to different comic shops than I am.

Every time I go into one I have to listen to the asinine conversations of the employees who think they're out of a bad Kevin Smith movie and deal with missed pull lists, employees who feel like because they work in a comic book store, customer service (speaking to customers, making non-comics-geeks feel welcome, and NOT using profanity in front of my daughter) is not a part of their jobs.

I'm sure there are good LCS' out there, but there aren't any within 40 miles of me, so DCBS is a lifesaver.

DCBS

I live in france and i go most of the time for the trades.

i get 300$ plus 100$ shipping and some 50$ taxes of merchandise i would pay 461 $... but buying LCS in france would be 461 € wheras 450 $ makes me pay 331 €...saving 100-120 € for the same amount (and that is with a LCS with neat prices... most goes 1$=1.10 €. at best.)

yeah, your lcs sounds like a nitemare. My 2 LCS's are pretty decent, no cussing, no real geek-talk/jargon. Some Alley Cat empoyies are a little antisocial, but I don't really have a problem with it, as I generally am too. The rest of the employies either are more into D&D or seem to not really be into comics much.

At B&M, the main owner admits that before opening his shop he had no real idea about comics or how well they sold, and hadn't heard of most of the comics that he was selling. He opened the store with the intention to only sell sports cards and memorabilia, but somewhere along the lines, he partnered with this other guy (whom he refers to as his comic guy) The Comic guy is never really there, think he's in college and has another job. but anytime I've had a question for him, he's been really helpful, and actually stepped from behind the register to help me out (gasp)

I do have a 3rd lcs, and they do suck... they're called Dragon Caves, they offered no discount for their pull box service, and the owner had no knowledge of comics either. But I loved their "back issues" they were generally 5 months to a couple years old. (that's where I got a lot of my 52 and Annihilation issues, and at only $1 a pop) My guess is they never really moved many books, so they just say there until eventually the guy started making $1 comic long boxes. after they moved, they carried very little comics, and no back issues. So driving all they way to a store to buy something I can find anywhere at 0% discount didn't really appeal to me.
