Yeah, it seems unlikely that it's just a coincidence that they waited till the last minute. I imagine they knew this would cause the most aggravation to do it this way.Todd Luck wrote:ManofTheAtom wrote:Good point.superman-prime wrote:because the valiant stuff wull not be in previews how will we get advance knowledge of it coming out
dcbs more or less copies previews and posts it on their site im sure mail order comics does the same thing
so any ideas there
Is VEI out of Previews for good, is it a one time thing, or just till VIP's dealt with?

It's purely a VIP-related legal problem so when (or if) that's cleared up they should be able to use Diamond just fine for the Harbinger Trade as well as any other products they put out (assuming there will be some).
This is just the damn strangest thing I've ever seen, a distributor pulling out at the last minute like this.

Even more reason for vip to hope their identity is never confirmed.Daniel Jackson wrote:Yeah, it seems unlikely that it's just a coincidence that they waited till the last minute. MOD: Deleted tarheelmarine's comments about Valiant Intellectual Properties. This thread is not designed to debate the merits of either company and CBG is following the legal issues as they unfold. When information is forthcoming from the affected parties, we will deliver it.myron wrote:why did the bastedges delete tarheel's post...

You know its not really the post deleting that really bothers me it is the selective nature of it that makes me go ballistic skew the premise of an argument taking it in a completely different direction so that the uneducated are given a shiny clean slant. This is censorship at its worst.myron wrote:why did the bastedges delete tarheel's post...

Well depending on what was said by tarheelmarine, they may be worried about libel. Beyond that I can't imagine why you would delete a post like that. I wouldn't think there's much chance of causing a flame war with something like that (assuming they do delete inflamatory posts)SnotDrip wrote:missed it ...but at least great minds think alikemyron wrote:that was my point...SnotDrip wrote:You know its not really the post deleting that really bothers me it is the selective nature of it that makes me go ballistic skew the premise of an argument taking it in a completely different direction so that the uneducated are given a shiny clean slant. I gotta say I feel bad. I just received my copy today...in the mail...from Amazon (slinks away with tail between legs
). I never thought of the impact this could have on the future. When my LCS showed no interest in stocking the book, and the fact that I haven't ordered anything from Previews in a decade, I couldn't resist the ease and discount that Amazon offered. I will however, in the future bug my LCS to get it for me.
That said, I'm more concerned with the whole VIP issue, and what impact, if any, it will have on future releases. Anyway, I'll follow this and other threads, and never use Amazon again.

I don't think there's anything wrong with buying it on the mass market. I mean it's a hard cover/tradepaperback, and bookstores and websites are where a good many of those are sold. VEI is offering it through places like Amazon becuase they hope it will sell there.Adventure346 wrote:I gotta say I feel bad. I wouldn't think the order (or not ordering)of this one trade would make it any more or less likely that a comic shop would stock possible future VEI products (especially if it's an actual comic series or miniseries).

Uh, on my invoice for next week it says that my orders for the Harbringer HC that had previously cancelled are reinstated... Does anyone know what this means? Will we get a followup? Anyone from Diamond care to comment?

Not according to the guy at my (UK, obviously) LCS who does the orders. The order had to be done without Diamond. He wasn't aware of the situation, so informed him of the shenanigans that VIP have been up to. When I spoke to him today, it is clear only two customers have ordered this. I don't think they will be ordering one for the shelves even.sckao wrote:A friend of mine is saying that Diamond IS FULFILLING their orders for the Harbinger HC. VEI - I look forward to you one day publishing MORE than 9-10 books per month

UPDATE: Several stores have told Newsarama that the Harbinger HC has appeared on their Diamond invoices for books due in next week. When contacted by Newsarama, Diamond VP - Purchasing Bill Schanes told Newsarama that the change in status was a mistake which has since been resolved. "[Shipment of the book] is still on hold pending legal dispute being resolved," Schanes told Newsarama. "Our PO to them [VEI] is on hold pending a resolution of this matter. Diamond doesn’t discuss any legal dispute for publication." Asked to clarify, and if this meant that the book would not be in stores next week, Schanes said, "Correct."
