Still making my way through X-Men (that's a looong game).
I'm taking breaks from it with Tecmo Arcade Classics, which i got new for $5! I never played most these games much as a kid and I see why. Most of the games are fun and interesting but nothing unique or outstanding and many of them fall into the trap of giving you a slow a** hero who dies cheap deaths every few seconds at the hands of fast moving, overwhelming hordes of baddies. Even Rygar had that flaw (I hear the NES version is better).
The one glorious exception on the collection: Solomon's Key, one of the most underrated games of all time. It's very, very hard to put this action/puzzle game down. Very addictive. I can't recommend it highly enough wether you get it from the Wii Virtual Console or on Tecmo Arcade Classics (both will only set you back 5 bucks.)

I LOVE that freaking game. It's so retro it's cool. Not too easy, not too hard, lots of stuff to do even after you finish the game. Very well written - it has expanded my 8-year old's vocabulary by a lot, and he's always asking me about the cultural references.Daniel Jackson wrote:Just bought Super Paper Mario for my wife and she is having a blast with it.
I've got just about everything done. I was going to work on getting a full set of cards and recipes made, but I think that's taking it a bit too far. I got all the maps and a full set of the special rare cards.
And I started fooling around with the WoW free trial this week. My initial impressions are that I think I liked EQ2 better - which really surprises me. The games are extremely similar. EQ2s questing seems to be much better. But I'm just getting started. There seems to be a real lack of people around. I think it's because I joined a mature server to be with friends, and no one is low level.

I watched her play some of it the other night and it's looks like a fun game. She gets bored with games pretty quickly, but so far she seems happy with this one.ckb wrote:I LOVE that freaking game. Yep, its a pretty good game, the fighting dynamics are a lot of fun. I'd be interested to know just how much the Wii expands on thatDaniel Jackson wrote:Is this the Gamecube version you're talking about?cobra_commander wrote:Sounds like there's a whooole bunch of stuff to do. I haven't played the older game. I can't imagine it is as deep as the Wii game.cobra_commander wrote:Yep, its a pretty good game, the fighting dynamics are a lot of fun. Currently:
My brother-in-law and I beat Rainbow Six: Vegas (360) yesterday evening on the "normal" setting, and having enjoyed it so much we're going to go back and start from the beginning on "realistic." I love this game!
Other than that, I'm making my way through Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus (PS2), which is a blast, and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (DS) which me and my girlfriend are able to enjoy together.
Good times.

Okay, look away if someone else wants to figure it out themselves (I looked it myself in a strategy guide online because it was really infuriating for me at the time... and that was just on the easiest level during my first run through)
****SPOILERS*******
You have it on Hardcore which is the toughest, right?
You ABSOLUTELY have to team up with another player either in person or via XboxLive, because the computer team-mate is a complete pylon on hardcore.
One person uses the bowcaster to disperse the krill that form a shield around him. Then when he is vulnerable the other person uses the sniper rifle and headshots. Have some grenades to do some blind throws when he gets close for damage and/or krill dispersement. (The gun in the middle of the carriage is a red herring... chainsaw melee attacks also pointless...). Make sure to heal each other as well when someone goes down... obviously.
The only thing is you have to partner up with somebody that knows what they are doing. I spent an hour with somebody that had no clue what to do and I didn't have the mike to explain it to them (they didn't know that the krill protected them). Then with the right person, I did it in like 10 minutes after numerous tries.
Good luck!

I still haven't signed up on xbox live yet---this might be a good excuse.
