Harbinger: The Beginning - Diamond Distribution - Canceled?

Post by D_N_G »

Just curious if anyone else got this response or similar from their LCS?

Ok, so I placed an order through my LCS for the new Harby book as soon as it was announced.

I was checking the LCS release calendar this week and it did not show up as a received item, so I gave them a ring.

They told me they only use Diamond for their distribution and no other outlets/book vendors. They confirmed they placed the original order from previews (and several more for other interested customers), but the books were not receieved in their shipments this week.

They also said it wasnt even showing up any longer as an orderable item in their system, and they would give me a call back.

They called their direct Diamond distribution rep, who also confirmed it was unavailable and the code showing in the reps status screen stood for "Canceled". The rep mentioned something about pending litigation (VEI vs. VIP would have to be what they were talking about)

So, is this true? Is Diamond really cancelling/not accepting solicitations? Is my LCS smoking some good stuff?

I went ahead and placed an order through Amazon just now. Would rather support the LCS, but what the hey, saved a few bucks in the end.

DCB already charged my credit card - I assume that they have shipped my books. Amazon is shipping books.

Why would Diamond not be shipping books?

Is Amazon going to stop shipping them too? If there are legal issues then it shouldn't matter who is shipping them.

And I hope Lovitz's crew have deep pockets, because they are going to be hit for a huge sum in a countersuit with the massive loss VE is going to take on getting this straightened out. Wouldn't they be liable for like damages if the lawsuit is determined to be frivolous?

GRE-EAT..... Amazon order will not be shipped until September 4th!!!

I won't get one of these - I just know it. For two months now, nothing has gone quite right, so I really don't expect this to happen either, now.

I feel like the end of a Few Good Men......

I'm the white dude on trial, and the guilty verdict came down.....

I'm like.....

"Hal......Hal......"

I am puzzled.

Sure didn't expect to see this after logging in today. Lets just hope this proves to be an inaccurate report. I just now placed an order for 3 through Amazon via 2-day shipping with a delivery estimate of Wed. Man, I'm going to be giving out a lot of these as gifts if all my books that are prepaid are delivered as promised.

Think I'm going to call one of the shops I have an order with to see if they have delivery info yet. Will report what they tell me shortly. :hope:

My amazon order was showing Sep 4th also with the free shipping option. Went ahead and bumped it to 2 day and its showing Aug 29th. Better to be safe than sorry.

Now hopefully my copy will slip through before they get a stop shipment order :hm: :!:

Barnes and Noble lists them, though they're more expensive.

And everyone should go to Amazon just to read Greg's review. Wow.
