Question re: value of Ditko MRF Page

Post by Brett »

I know a guy who has a Steve Ditko MRF page, featuring several robots talking. No Magnus, just robots. Any idea what a good price would be for this? Not particularly impressive, but it's two of my favorite things: Valiant and Ditko.

For a price example, here's an auction for a page with Magnus:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... RK:MEDW:IT

The page you've seen should be a lot less.

Ouch. Wish I had seen that page. Much nicer and cheaper than the one I found.

Thanks!

I picked up a Ditko Captain N page for @$50.00 a month ago. It all depends on what the subject matter is for price.

That was a nice score Chris. Being a Nintendo and Valiant fan, I'm always
interested in stuff like that. I have about 4-5 Nintendo inks that I think
are pretty cool.

Actually I just double checked. It is by Ernie Colon. Not Ditko as I thought. It is still a nice Captain N page though.

Subject matter makes all the difference when it comes to prices. An early Ditko Spider-Man cover is as much as $25k+. The same and then some for similar period Kirby. I know there were supposed to be ten original Ditko art cards inserted at an ungodly rate of something like 1 to every 215,000 packs of the Dark Dominion sets. I have never seen one.---Steve

Wow, I actually remember that! I've never seen or heard of one on the market though. I'm really surprised how cheap that Magnus page from the eBay auction went. I know that Ditko's fans want vintage art preferably with Spidey, but still, the man's so reclusive that I'd think any of his stuff would cary a respectable premium. That's half of what a Cassaday Planetary page usually sells for.

I always wondered if they really existed. I'm not sure that they did. I started practically living at the defiant offices the day after ditko finished up his work there in order to finish up good guys #1, and saw all the production, and I never saw any of those art pieces....

we should ask ed polgardy or jj the next time anyone sees them.
