Personally, I'm glad when people do this to themselves.
When you set a stupid "Buy It Now" price without doing your homework...
you deserve whatever happens.
Now, the bad news is, the book will probably be sold by the new buyer
in a regular auction... and one of us will be paying a lot more than $10
to win it.

Damn!
I would have caught that auction as well IF the seller posted it with shipping outside of the USA. I only do searches on items available to Canada. If I knew about this one I would have hit the BIN and begged and pleaded throwing virtual money around to convince this guy to sell to me. Lesson learned- do a search on ALL auctions, you never know.
What is the impetus to offering your auction internationally if you are based in the U.S.?

Yeah, it was Skot...is he still around the boards? He won the X-O 1/2 gold for....get this...$4. BIN. I think everyone's entitled to one screamin' BIN in their lifetime...I know I search the BINs often, and it gets mighty wearying wading through mounds and mounds of crap just to find that one tiny diamond. If I never see a 'Solar #23 CHEAP!' with a BIN of $7, it will be too soon.
The psychology behind the BINS also bothers me, personally, because sometimes you really fight with yourself, thinking...gosh, should I BIN? What if I let the auction run its course and I win it for much less? Worse, what if I let the auction run, and it ends up selling for lots MORE? It's a pain in the arse, let me tell you.
There was a Hulk auction labeled ONLY 'hulk'...and contained the new series #34, 35, 36, 38, 39, 40, and 41. BIN was $12. SMOKIN' deal. STILL, I thought, what if I don't BIN and win the auction for the starting price ($1)? Well, I didn't bin, but sniped it....won the auction for $6.51, $11.51 shipped. Not bad, but if someone into the Hulk had seen it...that auction could have sold for $20-$25.
The only BIN I got was a TMNT #1 1st print, with a BIN of $35, about 2 years ago. It was a VG copy with lots of wear and some stains, guide at the time for a VG copy was $20...and I DESPISE paying even HALF guide on almost ANYTHING (except pre-unity Valiant, of course. )
I tell you, I *really* struggled about that for about 30 minutes before doing it. It was a decent copy....turned it around in less than 2 weeks for $300.
And I STILL think it was a crazy BIN.

Well, the $10 BIN seller either has another copy...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 2230567759
... or he backed out on the first auction...

Complete lie. I emailed the seller about the first auction right away asking about the X-O 1/2 gold. His said "no just the one listed in my auction right now with the lot of wizard 1/2 issues" Now he pulls crap like this. If I was the first buyer I would report him to ebay and neg the a@#hole.BodaZoffa wrote:I contacted the seller by e-mail & inquired about this auction. He wrote back saying that the auction was cancelled & that he is refunding the money to the winner. His reason for this was that his wife supposedly set out the wrong comics to sell. If this is true or not I don't know....

Here is a reply from the seller of the x-o 1/2 gold. I guess he thinks I won the first auction.
Chris-
Hey! No, this one is not mine. This is my brother's and he's just checking to see how much it's worth. He is not selling it. You have yours secured and ready to ship out tomorrow. Do not bid on this one, as he is not selling it. It's just a test!! He's just using my account. I'll be confirming the mailing of yours as soon as it's been mailed tomorrow. Sound good??
As I said before, DO NOT BID on this, as it's only a test run.
Thanks,
Eric
He then sent me another email when he realized I didn't win.
Chris-
Hey again! I'm sorry, but I had mistaken you for someone else. My brother had 2 of them and sold one over the weekend and is sending it out tomorrow. I mistaken you for him. I'm responsible to send my brother's book tomorrow and answer any questions and deal with the endofauctions. But he is only running a test on the one that on right now, so please don't bid on this auction.
Thanks,
Eric (wolf122)
Interesting that he doesn't want me to bid.
