I'll trade all of the UK below the Midlands for a nice dry (not humidly) hot Southern (or West Coast) US state. Fair?slym2none wrote:"Pinky...? Arizona is dry, all I ask is that you leave Texas alone. Well, you can have East Texas, the only thing good that came out of their was the Geto Boys.leonmallett wrote:I'll trade all of the UK below the Midlands for a nice dry (not humidly) hot Southern (or West Coast) US state. kyanther wrote:So, its a new age for us comic fans, right? The internet has become such a great tool we can use. So what can we, as valiant fans, do to keep this other company from destroying the characters we have all come to love and know? Honestly, I don't have the answer myself, but I'm starting this topic so we can brainstorm a little bit. We all know we could simply not buy their products, but can we keep them from releasing any to start with? Here's all I've found so far that might be of some use to us.

Some known entity in the comic world set up VIP just for this trademark case. They are hiding their identity currently.
The only way to hurt their business is to find out who's behind it & boycott them. There have been rumors that Dynamic Forces, among others, is actually VIP. Those rumors may be true or they may be false. The point is that boycotting the entity behind VIP will go much further than anything else.

No wonder they're hiding their identity.
They're making enemies, and I can think of no enemy as staunch as an enemy who's a member of this board.
You mess with Valiant, you mess with ValiantComics.com!
By the way, that's quite a rumor about VIP being Dynamic Forces. If that were true, that would boggle the mind.
I gotta go. I feel my mind boggling already.

I think this VIP stuff is best ignored. What threat does VIP (a misnomer of a name if ever there was one) really pose? I guarantee they're not going to come out with a line of comics with those characters we've seen on the 'trashcan.'
The only threat I see from them is if VEI (Valiant Entertainment, the real Valiant) ties up valuable monies in court over this.
I think perhaps VEI should just go about their business and focus on whatever their game plan is. They don't have to go to court over this.
I understand seeing great Valiant characters trampled on by a Mickey Mouse organization like VIP hurts, but the best thing we can do is go back to focusing on Valiant like we were before this 'trash can' of a comic came out.

This matter has already been tied up in court for a very long time. I, for one, was hoping the Harbinger HC signified that the legal battle was over & that it was time for VEI to focus on publishing. This VIP garbage burst that bubble. I have faith VEI will end up with all the important TMs that go with the copyrights they bought though. It's just a matter of how long it takes...comicmark wrote:I think this VIP stuff is best ignored. What threat does VIP (a misnomer of a name if ever there was one) really pose? Thanks for the info. Shows I haven't read up on the matter.Zero wrote:This matter has already been tied up in court for a very long time. Do we know exactly who's behind VIP?

No. There have been rumors that it's Dynamic Forces, but it's very possible that it's someone else. There are several possibilities that have been discussed from large comic store chains to former Acclaim employees. Honestly, no one knows for sure other than VIP themselves, Lovitz, & possibly VEI. It would be nice to know who they are so I can properly direct my ire. They appear to be afraid to disclose their identity.comicmark wrote:Thanks for the info. "A year and a half ago, Newsarama reported that Lovitz had claimed the trademarks for several properties originally owned by Valiant Comics: Rai and the Future Force, Deathmate, Harbinger, and others. The applicant for these trademarks was "Valiant Intellectual Properties", having the same Delaware P.O. Box address as "Savage Tales Entertainment". Lovitz declined to give Newsarama any information about Valiant Intellectual Properties at the time. Not more is known about them, save that a year and half ago they approached Christopher Priest and Mark Bright in order to revive "Quantum and Woody", and that Priest described them as "people that we [Priest and Bright]'ve worked with before"."

Coincidence?
Yes, this is one of the big reasons DF has had fingers pointed at them.
The big problem right now is that there is no definite connection between the title "Savage Tales" & the TM "Savage Tales Entertainment" that was applied for. They may well be connected, but it is not definitive.

Is it really paranoia if we're actually being watched?

Not on that page at all, my friend. Zero was asking for someone to check the indicia of a copy of the Savage Tales comic. Since I happen to have a copy of #1, that's where I checked.ManofTheAtom wrote:Where does it say that?
