The Harbinger's Valiant Story
The first comic series I read was my dad's silver age Legion of Super-Heroes, the run that made Shooter famous as all of you probably know.
Through the years, I read different things and started collecting. Eventually, I discovered Youngblood by Rob Liefeld
. I own the complete runs of all the Youngblood sadly. For some reason, I liked the Youngblood comics when I first bought them. Later on, I dusted them off and started reading them again, only to realize the stories were utter crap. This is where I stopped buying comics for awhile.
As Magic the Gathering came along, I played it with my friends and left the comic books to the side. I still made the occasional visit to the comic store, where I discovered Armada's Magic the Gathering comic book. I gave it a chance, and it wasn't that great IMO. Attached inside the plastic was a preview for Birthquake
in Valiant Comics.
I wasn't that interested in any of them except for the Visitor. I found issues #1-5 of the Visitor and really enjoyed them. I received the rest of the Visitor run, only to wonder who Peter Stanchek was since he was The Harbinger in Visitor #8. This led to me looking for the original Harbinger Titles, and I now proudly have the complete run (Though not that proud of 26-41). This has branched to me trying out all of the other Valiant titles, which include Solar, X-O, Rai, and Magnus.
That's pretty much it, and I do know that I have already lost some credibility when I say that I consider Visitor one of the best series Valiant has written.
It's okay though, I just want to share in the excitement when they revive Valiant Comics. If you stayed to the end, enjoy the

Don't feel bad. Everybody liked them when they came out. SOMEBODY bought all those millions of comics Rob did. I actually went from liking that stuff, to despising it, back to liking it again. 90's over-the-top brainless excess. The Harbinger wrote:Eventually, I discovered Youngblood by Rob Liefeld. We forgive you (says the guy who liked Psi-Lords)The Harbinger wrote: That's pretty much it, and I do know that I have already lost some credibility when I say that I consider Visitor one of the best series Valiant has written.

The problem was I was having to buy items like comics and trading cards with my own money. At the time, I had a minimum wage job, and many of my friends, both collectors and non-collectors, started getting into MtG. I chose to go with the flow since I financially didn't have enough for both, and comics weren't that good anymore. (I also didn't know about Valiant Comics at all until after the MtG fad)Daniel Jackson wrote:Welcome. Hard to believe someone would put aside comics for Magic the Gathering though. Glad to see you made your way back.

Ah, that's okay. As long as you enjoy it, that's all that matters. The Harbinger wrote:That's pretty much it, and I do know that I have already lost some credibility when I say that I consider Visitor one of the best series Valiant has written. It's okay though, I just want to share in the excitement when they revive Valiant Comics. Good stuff! The Harbinger wrote:I've got Harbinger #0-41, all the early Secret Weapons, all the Visitors, and many random comics after that. Mainly, I wanted to read about Harada and the Eggbreakers, so I have Solar #3 and the Harbinger Corp. appearances in other comics.
I am currently looking for Solar Alpha and Omega HC

You'll definitely enjoy Alpha & Omega... early X-O Manowar and Magnus should be on your list, too.
