It was actually the Alex Ross 'Power Girl' cover that sold me this month...greg wrote:Thanks Mobstirr... all this coverage in Wizard almost makes me want to buy the magazine.mobstirr wrote:Just found a 3rd article in the same Wizard issue, this time in the "News, Notes, Etc." section:
A Valiant Effort
"Valiant Comics-one of the biggest publishers of the 1990s which boasted 80 million comics sold and helped launch the careers of creators like Joe Quesada and Rags Morales-returns in August with a new hardcover collection of Harbinger ($24.95), about a group of outcast superpowered teens (think X-Men crossed with a precursor to "Heroes"). The trade not only contains the origin story (#0-#7), but includes a new "Origin of Harada" story written by Valiant founder JimShooter with art by fellow stalwart Bob Hall! Could an X-O Manowar, Shadowman or Magnus, Robot Fighter resurgence be far behind? Let's hope the Harbinger HC is a sign of things to come..."
BTW, they have all of the Harbinger comics as gaining value this month in their little price guide section.![]()

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

I bought a Wizard when I was in Rota because you can't get CBG there, and I am always shocked at it's price guide. I still think it's a juvenile magazine.greg wrote:Oh, well, in that case... I'm all for scientific evaluations and information monitoring.comicmark wrote:I'm thinking of buying a copy myself. In fact, I may have to start buying it again for awhile just to monitor what they're doing and saying about Valiant.
Enjoy!

And I agree with your opinion of Michael Turner, too. He definitely has skill in creating dynamic layouts for his covers, but ALL of his female characters have the same face!
Oh, and here's a link to that Alex Ross Wizard cover...

IanAlexavier wrote:Well maybe Dino will take a look at what paper is available and go with something a bit less glossy. Maybe use glossy for special books, like variants.
This may be a way to keep prices down and encourage readers to collect all 8-10 per month.

There is only room for one "V" word. It is Valiant, not Variant. I hope and pray that being a pseudo-startup Valiant goes the route of Shooters visioin and just say NO to variants.
