Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

Well, day one was a bust

I got up at 2 am to catch the 6:40 flight... which was late getting to Dallas, which caused my bag to be sent in the next flight, thus arriving after I did.

It's almost ten and I haven't eaten anything all day.

On the bright side I had a picture taken with Lou Ferrigno at the Mile High Con... expensive, but worth it in the long run.

I also talked for a minute or two with some pencillers in artist alley.

Oh, and my stupid cel wont work, so I can't call anyone and no one can call me...

I will be picking up the shirts tonight at 11:30pm on my way out for the all night drive to SDCC...

Having some SERIOUS issues with the shirts the coloring of the image HAD to be scrapped  NOT HAPPY....But I just approved the shirts final design abiout an hour ago and it should be pretty nice...I'll have them with me at the show tomorrow.

Once I have them I'll post a picture of them for all of you to see.

True story - last year at Comic Con, my friends and I were drinking in a hotel bar with a bunch of people that make cartoons, and Lou Ferrigno stumbles in. Dude was lit up.

It was kind of odd... the guys we were with, we make websites dedicated to the shows they make, and they turned into fanboys around Lou Ferrigno.

Provided my plane is on time, I'll try to make that panel. It would be cool to see some friendly faces there... I don't know anyone in San Diego, and until I meet up with my own Advanced Iron guys, I'll be there alone..

I know the feeling.

There were people I was going to call so we could get together but since my cel phone won't work that can't happen now, so what was supposed to be a productive work weekend will turn into a simple vacation at the comic con :(

wait a minute... that's not THAT bad, is it?

well, a LITTLE bid bad. Unless they check their email I can't contact them.

Day two looks a little better.

Met Bob Hall (whose handshake is oddly enough stronger than Ferrigno's) and "betterthanezra", who gave me my t-shirt :D

Hall signed my copy of the ad for the hc and I also met Chip, VE's director of marketing.

I got to the center very early and was able to get in through some cracks in the process (I have a pro con badge and some of the people there said that I can go in without standing in line so I did, but then other people said it was wrong and asked me to leave the exhibit hall... it was interesting). I helped a retailer open his boxes in exchange of three free comics from the dollar or two dollar boxes... I got Rai 0 and that issue of Solar with Ravenous and the party so that, hopefully, Kevin can sign it).

As and non-attendant, loving the live reports guys! Keep it up! They had a 2-hour preiview of the SDCC on G4 tonight but it actually contained absolutely nothing about comic books and everything about comic-related movies... quite depressing! (it is the COMIC convention afterall isn't it?)

I started to watch the coverage of the show on G4, but turned it off soon after. They really irritate me with their "people attending this show are geeks" crap. Sure, it's generally true, but why does the geek factor have to be brought up over and over? Considering probably 99% of their target audience are probably "geeks" as well, you would think they would do more to inform and less to insult.

I was thinking the same thing as I was watching it. Those two morons they have there from 'Attack of the Show' don't know anything and I finally got disgusted and turned it off. I miss Tech TV.....

Tomorrow (Friday), is supposed to be Valiants day on the panel (If I remember what people were saying correctly). I'm really hoping for someone will come back to the boards with some good intel (like what the plan is after the HC, when the website will be up, news on future content, what books amy be released, info on the GK3, other reprints in the works, etc, etc, etc)

And if anyone can pick up another extra signed dust cover for a poor college student... :thumb:

He said he liked VH 2 and that next year when they do the Q&W hardcover with a new story by Priest and Bright they were going to do a baby goat petting zoo at the con with small, medium, and large sized goats with capes and matching masks.

I had no choice but shoot him and force ezra to bury the body.

I said things got interesting..

:P

On a more serious note, it was what he didn't say that was the most interesting.

I told him about the Solar/Seleski situation and how the indicia in the original comics said that Voyager owned Phil Seleski, information I'm glad I planted in his head.

On a separate note, I got this comic from the same guy I mentioned before, and it only cost me 2 dollars.

I didn't even know it existed until two weeks ago, and I was surprised that I even found it.

lol, :funnypost: Did you ask him if they were going to have a replica of the Silver Surfers board sitting in the background as well as an open daytimer with the Legion of Superheroes first names and phone numbers in it (for details sake...)?

Thats actually pretty cool about planting the whole seed about Selenski; you'd think they'd actually already know that. (or maybe he does, but he's not letting on...) Either way, keep it up with the questions! Inquiring minds that can't go want to know!!!

At least for me the % 20 expanded into a space in the URL above. It's issue 14.

While I'm sure that Chip is not a Valiant expert (yet), it's unlikely that major
discussion points have not already been considered by someone in VEI, like "what about Seleski?"

What sounds simple on a messageboard can be extremely complicated in legal terms.

"Planting a seed" seems like a great idea, but if you plant a seed of grass in a fully grown lawn,
you haven't done anything... even if you do want to pat yourself on the back.

We often get excited about "ideas" that are little more than common sense. :P

Fanboy: "Hey, I got a great idea! New comics should have COVERS!"

...later, when the new comics have covers...

Fanboy: "That was MY IDEA! Wow, I rule! Congratulate me on my insight!"

Ok, whatever.

I'm afraid not.

I saw a guy lighting a cigarette the other day with a match,
and for a split second, I wanted to congratulate him on discovering fire...
but then I realized that fire has probably been around a few years, and that
he was just a moron that needed to quit dancing around yelling,
"I discovered fire! I discovered fire! When the book of Fire is written,
I need to be given credit for the discovery!"

Strangely, some of the people around him were cheering...
but maybe they'd just never seen fire before. :hm:

Luckily, the "I discovered water guy" came by and drenched everyone with a fire hose.

Then we all just busted out laughing, and I bought some new socks.

The end. :thumb:
