Crossgen?

Post by depluto »

Anyone know where I can get a complete checklist of Crossgen books? I've been seeing a lot of these in the quarter bins ... time to buy!

I didn't realize they put out so many of the damn things, though.

They used to have one on their site, but the site is gone now. I hope that someone archived it somewhere. They put out a lot of books in a short period of time, but most were of very good quality and definately worth reading. My favorites were Negation and Crux.

Crossgen Checklist

Post by Steve Topper »

I'm working on a comprehensive checklist for Crossgen, but it isn't complete just yet. Here's what I have so far:

Abadazad (3 issues)
Brath (14 issues + prologue)
Chimera (4 issues)
Crossgenesis (1 issue)
Crossgen Chronicles (8 issues)
Crossgen Illustrated (1 issue)
Crux (33 issues)
Edge/Vector (14 issues -- reprints various titles)
El Cazador (6 issues + special)
First (37 issues)
Forge (14 issues -- reprints various titles)
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (5 issues)
Lady Death (12 issues + 2 issues of second series)
Mark of Charon (5 issues)
Meridian (43 issues)
Mystic (43 issues)
Negation (27 issues, 1 prologue, 1 special, and 2 issues of Negation War)
Path (22 issues + prologue)
Route 666 (24 issues)
Ruse (26 issues + 3 specials)
Saurians - Unnatural Selection (2 issues)
Scion (43 issues)
Sigil (42 issues)
Silken Ghost (5 issues)
Sojourn (34 issues + prologue)
Solus (8 issues)
Way of the Rat (24 issues)

I'm guessing this is at least 95% accurate as I'm not sure whether some of the last issues of the titles that tried to survive bankrupcy got published.

What was the URL for the checklist? I can try to put it through archive.org and see if it comes up.

No clue. I remember they had one as a link off of their main website, Crossgen.com

I scanned their website and didn't see it, but I think I've got a pretty good list cobbled together, thanks to the fellas.

These things are in quarter bins all over the place around here!

Most of the stuff I've found was from the end of the runs ... about 100 different comics so far.

Good stuff, very well done.

It's official. Now who's to say that anything other than Abadazad ever makes print again.

Thanks, it does. I had found I had the 44th issue of Meridian, just was misfiled. I've found a few other minor tweaks on my checklist and can update it if anybody is really interested.

Assorted issues of Scion, Sigil and Negation. I'm nowhere near complete runs on anything though.

I've been picking up the trades - I've gotten all of them except Crossgen Illustrated (pin-up book) and I've not decided if I'm going to venture into the compendiums or not, since many of those already include material in the trades. I've picked them up for half price or less including shipping :)

I'm thinking it might be ncie to start picking up some of the Crossgen books now. I think they might do similar things to what Valiant books have done... they seemingly had really good stories with smaller print runs.

I'm trying to get the Crossgen torrent of books right now, but it's terribly big and slow.

Can some of you crossgen experrts out there tell me where I should concentrate my efforts? Sojourn is probably a must, but what other books are really good?

same here...I found about 4 or 5 issues of Forge at the milwaukee airport for about half price each...kind of like the way they were put together...I might start picking up single issues on the cheap though...

Crossgen stopped publishing this year. Most of their titles ended either at the end of 2003 or very early in 2004.

And when you really get going into the stories, you can be disappointed that Crossgen stopped in the middle of storylines. See Negation War for the best example.

So we can say that CrossGen ended this year?

Let's see...

CrossGen: 2000-2004
Valiant: 1991-2000 (not counting that Turok Evolution comic or the Nintendo books)
First Comics: 1983-1991
Warren Publications: 1964-1983

I'm trying to think of what ended in 1964, and if I counted FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND for Warren, then that means it'd have started in 1958. I do remember reading that E.C. Comics ended in 1956 (with the exception of MAD). Anybody know of a comic company that might've ended in 1964 or 1958?

It's on tracker 1. There's a giga-torrent as well as newly releases chronological packs. Take your pick.. :)

Spider-Man, The Avengers, The Fantastic Four, and Batman are out in small torrents as well. YEAH, like I could EVER afford first issues of Spidey, Bats, and the FF. They may not be on paper but I can now at least read them.
They're reprinted in handy dandy lil' hardcovers that usually sell for $10-$20 on eBay! How cool is that? There's also the Famous First Editions that sell for about $5 in Fine or better condition...cheap!
