Right now I am reading Ruse.

It is AMAZING! I have read #1-#8 (I think).

Super great. Amazing story, dialogue, art, feel.

Lightning asked if I was reading any new books in the other thread, and the answer is no.

I guess the "newest" boks would be some Fables TPBs that I just got but have not started reading yet.

Jedi and 4Hun were saying that the Crossgen books are to sci-fi, only one book (so far) in the Ruse run has any sci-fi in it (issue #1, some magic chicks).

Jedi, if you have the Ruse run, read it, what I have read so far, is very good.

For those who don't know, the current Ghost Rider series is really good! I've been enjoying it thoroughly. Much much much better than that stupid mini series that Garth Ennis did a while back (although the art was nice, the writing was crap even for Ennis).

Boy, not an Ennis fan, huh?

I do have to agree, that Ghost Rider mini sucked on ice, not at all up to the standard I'm used to from Ennis.

It took me about halfway in to get into it, but I will give this a try for a while, especially as I felt I missed out with Transmetropolitan.

Black Summer 1 was very good if you haven't tried that.

Doktor Sleepless #1

Worked for me, although definitely not to everyone's tastes. I'm a big Ellis fan so am very much used to his fascination with the internet, futurism, self modification and politics. It's a slow burner, with not much action and a lot of 'preaching' from a self styled 'Science Jesus'

This book will divide people.

Black Summer #1

Ellis again showing his taste for action this time. Hard, fast and entertaining (and a world away from Doktor Sleepless).

I wish I liked Doktor Sleepless. They had sweet t-shirts for him at the Avatar booth. Didn't try Black Summer after that, it's hard to try books at Avatar's prices without a better idea (and after the Doktor, meh). I like the Black Gas stuff okay, and I didn't like Chronicles of Wormwood (Ennis, not Ellis like everything else named) as much as I thought I might from the preview, but I bought it BECAUSE OF THE PREVIEW. Selling me a trailer for $1 makes me way more likely to spend $4 on a book if I like it.

Right now I am reading a Top 10 Farthest Precinct run I just pulled out of the .25 bins. But I don't have #5..... :!:

I just finished the Magic the Gathering books, I REALLY liked them.

Really, it's just another checklist that I need to carry around with me. (I only need a few books so that is good)

Re-reading Justice League (Giffen style...and finding it's not so funny 17 years after I first read 'em....when I first read 'em, they were freakin' hilarious....they're still funny, but not as "GREAT!" as when I first read 'em.)

And any issue of Groo I can currently put my hands on, which includes the mini (#4-8 for the first time!), the Special #1 (also for the first time), and #10-#19....have #6-9 on deck. Groo is hilarious.

Also, if I can find the rest of it, the Millar run of Swamp Thing. Read the first issue (#140), and it's already promising. I also have the Alan Moore run of Supreme (#41-56) set aside, but I've read #41-#43, and they didn't quite grab me. Ah well, maybe if I read the rest, it'll work for me.

Also found some absolutely gorgeous McFarlane Amazings that are going to be 9.8 candidates when I get a pre-screen batch finished, including two gorgeous sets of #315-317, at least 2 of which are guaranteed 9.8s. I've been putting the Amazings together, and it's nice to know I have a full longbox (so far) of Amazing #298-328. 85% in NM or better, and the ones that aren't are, of course, from eBay that were advertised as NM.

It's too bad the 9.8 market has crashed for modern key books.

And frankly, I'm surprised Amazing #300 still sells for as much as it does....there are 4311 on the census (and an absolutely SHOCKING number of those below 9.0....though I wonder how many of those are resubs.....hmmmmm.)

Are you still enjoying exploring the other parts of that universe?

I read some Tom Strong, I didn't really like it that much. What else do you recommend?
