Certain creators you would buy any book for?
Are there any creators (whether an artist or writer) that you just absolutely love that you'll buy any book just because they're on the book?
I'll buy ANYTHING that George Perez, Walt Simonson and Alan Davis do the artwork on, no matter what it is. And I'll at least try any book that PAD, Simonson or Gaiman writes even if I have no interest in the characters.
How about you guys?

I love Byrne's old work, but like you said, his recent work has been less than stellar.Brother J wrote:Usually Garth Ennis is one, but there's been a few books he did that looked uninteresting to me that I passed on.
If Dave Sim did another book, I'd probably pick it up...
I used to be this way towards John Byrne until the quality of his work deteriorated (in my opinion).

Zeck is a very underrated artist. I loved his run on Captain America.stone384 wrote:anything by Mike Zeck....man I wish he was still doing comics![]()

Frank Miller. JMS. Jim Shooter. Evan Dorkin. There are exceptions here and there where I won't enjoy an issue they put out but that's very, very rare.Lightning Strike wrote:Are there any creators (whether an artist or writer) that you just absolutely love that you'll buy any book just because they're on the book?

None. There is no one creator I will buy everything buy. I tend to follow writers more than artists (although I love and always will love Perez' work, as well as that of Alex Ross, Gene Ha, Mark Bagley, John Paul Leon, Brent Anderson, Mike Parobeck - much missed, he went too soon). The writers whose work I really admire include Paul Grist, Alan Moore, Grant Morrison, Warren Ellis, Kurt Busiek (for Astro City - sorry to anyone burned by VH2 Ninjak, I haven't read that), J. Michael Straszynski (okay spelling is likely way off), Fraction with Brubaker (in just a few issues, Immortal Iron Fist has become 'that good'), Kirkman amongst others. That said I won't buy everything by them, simply because not everything they do appeals to me.

I would buy something if Lapham was scripting AND doing art. I just finished my DC collection of Moore, and I think it might be his penultimate creative period. Good stuff. I have collected Dave McKean for the last few years, but it seems to have gotten to be... silly? It's just not the same as it used to be...
And Grant Morrison's run on Animal Man changed my life... so I will always keep a heads up on what he is doing.

Jim Starlin, Peter David and Matt Wagner are big names for me.
Additional note for Elveen - J. Michael Straczynski was the guy behind Babylon 5. He now writes Spiderman comics. Joss Whedon, the mind behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Firefly, writes X-Men (and some Buffy and Angel) comics now.

J. Michael Straczynski has also been writing Supreme Power/Squadron Supreme for Marvel (a re-created Squadron Supreme, not the one that appeared in Avengers and elsewhere).Chiclo wrote:Jim Starlin, Peter David and Matt Wagner are big names for me.
