Comics you probably don't know exist

Post by Shakespeare »

I got this idea from the CGC boards, but I can't seem to register for some reason, so I thought I'd bring it over here.

While going through my comics I found a few comics that aren't in Overstreet and are, for the most part, a riot. Here you go:

Image

He-Man promo comic given out at movie. Selling this on tomorrow on e-bay.

Image

I don't know how this even got into my collection. But it's not in Overstreet

Image

Sigh...

Image

This will be worth a lot of money some day.

And finally, my favorite...

Image

Let me just repeat...Deaf superhero fights for good nutrition.

Anybody else have any boners?

I don't see what this has to do with comics.

Way too much info for me.

I don't have a pic, but Marvel once put a one shot based on Pope John Paul II. I was surprised when I came across that one in a cheap bin.... so I had to buy it.

This should not to be confused with the more recent and very independant 'Battle Pope'.

What I find interesting is that it was $1.50 when all the rest of the Marvel books of the day were 60 cents. ;) Well, ok, ok, it's double sized...with DOUBLE the papal action!

I borrowed those scans from our friends at Mile High. I'm actually in the market for a decent condition copy of that Johnny Cash comic, doesn't have to be NM, but at least a bit better looking than the one in the MH scan.

Origin story has Reagan and his cabinet wanting to do more to fight Communists, drug dealers, etc, and they volunteer for a process to turn into superheroes. But the whole series is really f'ed up. I'll have to scan in some pages.

Rich Buckler, who was involved with this comic, is infamous for his numerous swiped panels in his comics work (supposedly he might've done more swiping than Liefeld, but that's because Buckler did art for a LOT of comics).

here's another one. I always see this book in bargain boxes but haven't picked it up, but the title always makes me smile when I see it:
