Just bought Rai #3 and #4 on ebay
Hi, I have been searching for a one source to sell me Rai #3 and #4. I immediately clicked BUY IT NOW for $49.99 + $10.00 shipping when I found one on ebay with NM/NM+ on both Rai #3 and #4.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... &rd=1&rd=1
However, I just learned that Rai #3 isn't NM/NM+ since the cover has a bad misprint cut.
Did I do okay? Did I get ripped off? What will happen if I send that Rai #3 to CGC?
Thanks.
P.S. I haven't sent him the payment yet, I might negiotate him if you agree that #3 isn't NM/NM+.

A good portion of the print run for Rai 3 was poorly cut.
This site is a wealth of information on all things Valiant.
Here is the page on the Rai 3 issue:

And here is an image showing some of the mis-cut Rai 3s.

Right now its still a good book.
But the more you stay on these boards, the more it will gnaw away at you, until you just can't take it anymore and you upgrade to a well centred one, possibly for more money than you can afford. The copy you hold in your hand becoming nothing but an ugly and inferior eyesore in your "precious" collection of comics.

Thanx CC, now I feel just a little bit less satisfied with my collection.cobra_commander wrote:Right now its still a good book.

99.9% of the problem with e-bay and MOST <not all> dealers I have come across.
However I think CGC aware dealers and sellers are becoming MORE in tune with what these grades are and will/ are becoming more reliable on their grades. But, like I said, FEW and FAR between.

Yes, I give it a 25% chance or either book being NM/NM+ before they were shipped. About a 10% chance after they are shipped and get to you. A miscut will be the least of your worries.Ricomortis wrote:Zero wrote:I would be more concerned with the guy's ability to grade than I would be with the miscut. Of course, we all get lucky and I hope they are 9.9s for you.

The problem with early VALIANT is that both front and back covers can look flawless but then you turn that *SQUEE* over and look at the spine and you just want to tape a piece of paper with 'Ebay' written on it on someone you hate and beat the *SQUEE* out of them.
How many Ra#5 NM/M must be bought for us to learn our lesson!

Good hauland welcome to the boards!

However many it takes.... however many it takes!

10% is still high. I only gave a .01% of a chance of them being said grade.

Jay that one looks sick, are you gonna send it to CGC? It seems deserve to have one.
I got Rai #3 and 4 arrived in mail. I have to take good pictures of them since I notice some "hard to see" flaws. I have a feeling they both will be 9.4-9.6-ish.
That's cool to have them, but I'd listen to you people since you're expertise on them.

Well I know that you had at least one more Rai #3 than you have now....

And mine is not the only one that was formerly in your collection, that has now moved to someone else's collection.....

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

I have "payed" it forward, but not with these books...... I just know that I am not the only one who has benefitted from your Rai generosity.....
