Pretty much. If I was buying a PALLET of gold books, depending on which books, I don't think it would be wise to buy them at anymore than $1-3 per book. We are talking a PALLET here. A friggin ton of books. That large a number of books surfacing (even if they aren't taken directly to the market) is going to have a large impact on such a small group of buyers and the sales price would be affected accordingly.sckao wrote: What if he used Greg's wholesale price (as shown in the inventory which is 50% of guide) to buy them at $11 apiece?
Too bad I guess...
To me "wholesale" would be more like 20+ copies of a book. Not hundreds of copies. If he paid Greg's wholesale price, he probably screwed himself and the little bit of money that he will make won't be worth the effort and time it'll take to unload all those books.

That would be as dumb as paying $25 for one.400yrs wrote:To me "wholesale" would be more like 20+ copies of a book. Not hundreds of copies. Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

Sellers can ask anything they want, but just keep in mind, these are discussion forums (that's why we are here) and be prepared for some lively discourse when you do state your prices.Rubiks-Q-Bert wrote:All it boils down to is he has them. As a seller it's his perogative to sell them at whatever price he wants. As a buyer it's your perogative to pay that price or not. Knowing he has them does not change that.

sellers can ask, but buyers don't have to buy...we're not talking life and death here...if you don't like the price on a comic don't pay it...and as DJ said...if you price yourself above the market be prepared to hear about it.Daniel Jackson wrote:Sellers can ask anything they want, but just keep in mind, these are discussion forums (that's why we are here) and be prepared for some lively discourse when you do state your prices.Rubiks-Q-Bert wrote:All it boils down to is he has them. I'm not even sure what is in debate here, but:
-Seller can ask whatever he wants, he might even sometimes get it!
-Smart collectors that KNOW there are a lot of something uncirculating thats currently going for a premium are smart to wait.
-Regardless of buying them now at a higher price or later or lower price in both regards is shear speculation. These books could for some unknown reason become super high demand or $0.01 fodder (like a large collection spontanteouly catches fire or 1 million unknown existing copies are released) tomorrow.
- I for one will wait. Why? Because I'm broke...

So I have noticed. It's actually very cool to see such a lively discussion. I was just stating the facts. That's about all I can do. I don't really debate.Daniel Jackson wrote:Sellers can ask anything they want, but just keep in mind, these are discussion forums (that's why we are here) and be prepared for some lively discourse when you do state your prices.Rubiks-Q-Bert wrote:All it boils down to is he has them.
