Should Barry Windsor-Smith & Bob Layton be brought back?

That's the problem when you work for a huge corporation with executive officers don't understand much about comic books. All they cared is the full control and movement, so Jim Shooter seems want to take a control on Valiant - so he'll get auto-fired. That'll make sense.DK2 wrote:Shooter was forced out, or fired by his co-ownership partners at Voyager Communications, Inc., Valiant's parent company, at the time he left, something like that, which of course was unfortunate at the time it happened (I think they were trying to sell off Valiant, which Shooter didn't want happen I think, maybe I'm wrong, or was it over the company's direction?). They even dumped some of the Valiant people who were very loyal to him, leaving them unemployed, which was just stupid. Shooter of course brought them over to help him create Defiant Comics, and later on, Broadway Comics.Stinger wrote:I still don't get why Shooter and his gang fell apart after Unity. All I know was that Shooter left and started Defiant comics.
I still have no clue why Shooter would want to be back to Valiant again, but it will be rise if Shooter wants to make more money. I'm sure Shooter have seen better paid job when he was working with Valiant.
That would be very sick-smart if Shooter comes back to resurrect Valiant comics for making a new movie. Look what happened to Transformers lately.
Bob Layton was promoted as the new boss (Editor-in-Chief and Senior Vice President) of Valiant by the owners to take over Shooter's role. I think Layton was possibly one of those who didn't like Shooter either, I'm not sure (I'm pretty sure Layton doesn't like Shooter, so maybe a reunion between them at the new Valiant would be a bad idea if such a thing was to happen). When Layton took over, Valiant was still strong going into 1993 and 1994, but after that, Valiant's sale to Acclaim is what I think killed the company by 1996, ending the VH1 era. Layton himself bowed out, leaving things to dry as things fell apart at Valiant.
I think Windsor-Smith was one of the people who supported Shooter, even after Shooter was fired from Valiant, Windsor-Smith stayed on a bit longer post-Shooter era, continuiing his role as mentor to the young artists of Valiant. I think the Valiant bosses promoted Windsor-Smith didn't they? From what I've heard though, Windsor-Smith's new position was never clear as to what his new role was, and I think he left over that dispute. This was when he would go off to Malibu Comics to create Rune I think.
I guess right now Valiant is dead so they seem give Jim Shooter a shot.

comparing BWS and Liefield is just WRONG!!
Shooter in charge, Layton on writing and drawing, BWS on drawing and some writing... Quesada as an artist, ok..

Yeah, you'd think they were related.tarheelmarine wrote:I think both would make great additions, but I agree about BWS's drawing of faces as well. I wonder if he does that when he's rushed? This was very apparent in Unity where Erica and her son looked identical at many places.Heath wrote:If it were up to me, I'd definitely bring back Layton. He's been pretty good to the fans and obviously has a fondness for the Valiant universe and characters.
BWS, on the other hand, I'm not so sure about. Yeah, he's a great artist and I think Valiant's downhill slide really began with his departure, but he draws the same face on every character and it gets really old after a while.

Whats up with Liefeld and foot fetish? It seems like he got an affair with a foot fetish porn star or something..
Honestly from what I remember, Liefeld was a spoiled kid with high expectation out of him. He got spoiled so bad that he drew bad comic books and *SQUEE* up his new business.
Youngblood was the hype that it could overshadow x-men or something.

Is that Gilad? Maybe it's Archer. Or perhaps it's Conan?Daniel Jackson wrote:Hey, why is Gilad wearing Thor's helmet......X-O HoboJoe wrote:Aw, come on! Seriously though, I do love BWS's artwork. Really, I do. Even if he draws every face the same. John Byrne does the same thing and I love his work too.

So does John Buscema. Actually, he co-authored the book on it.

Thats not Gilad. Thats actually a character from one of his "Storyteller" books I think.Daniel Jackson wrote:Hey, why is Gilad wearing Thor's helmet......X-O HoboJoe wrote:Aw, come on!
