My son just bought Guitar Hero II for the PS2 (since the 360 version is know to cause the Ring-Of-Death)...

I can easily see how that game could get very addictive. I had a great time just listening from the other room. Great songs!

The machine gave a cry for help by giving me the three red flashing signals. I called the support line and was guided through a ressuciation procedure by Max, a voice responsive automated program. Unfortunately, Max's programmed knowledge did little to help my 360 and I had to wait for a live agent.

There will be a service for my dearly departed system within the next three days with burial via Purolator Courier.

A moment of silence please.

A new system free fo charge and shipping fees should be on the way.

So those of you who have a 360, my advice is to play the *SQUEE* out of it within a year of buying it. If it breaks down after the first year and you didn't buy an extended warranty, then you'll end up having to pay for repairs.
Sad, sad news. I'm sorry to hear about your loss Mav. :|

My PS2 is still going strong... then again, I rarely use it.

Yup.

The game causes the XBOX 360 to overheat. Depending upon when the 360 was manufactured, the solder may get soft and melt.

I know of a number of people it has happened to.

Kinda scary, huh?

I knew this day would come, I just didn't think it would be so soon. I keep replaying the day in my head and thinking of things I could have done to prevent it. Maybe if I didn't take that month off? What if I was playing a different game? Why didn't I invest in the external fan? If I only played games on it instead of having a 007 movie marathon on it followed by an Arrested Development marathon?

The only consolation I find is focusing on the fact that my 360 passed away doing what it was made to do. It's all any of us can hope for.

I have to stay strong... stay strong...

Cool. Been wondering if this is any good or not?
Meh.

Fair to middling. Some decent action stuff but too much running and jumping for a FPS. A good mix of skills but some dumb, too-long levels.

My wife just bought me a 360 and I am LOVING it. I did buy the two year warranty though and am taking all precautions to keep the overheating issue to a minimum. I have a small fan placed behind the 360, drawing hot air away from the unit and I have the 360 on it's side with four poker chips. The unit runs warm but I dont think it is within danger levesl. If mine went *SQUEE* up right now I think that I would cry.... been enjoying Gears of War WAAAAAYYYYY too much.

ANYONE out there wanting to sell me their working copy of Oblivion w/ documentation. I dont want to spend an arm and a leg for it but cant wait to play it on the 360. I played it on PC but REALLY want to get into it on the 360.

There's a fan available for 360 that snaps right onto the back of the system. It sports three fans, and sucks the heat right out of the back vent. I think I only paid like twenty bucks for it, and it keeps my 360 MUCH cooler.

Just played Harry Potter OOP ... what a crappy game. They should have called it Harry Potter and his Stupid Friends Get in Each Other's Way for Hours.

Man, I envy you guys who have time to play video games. I'm not a big video game person, well not since I was a kid, but I wish I had some extra time to relax and play games.

I just don't watch TV. I can usually find a couple of quiet hours at night to kill aliens and whatnot.

I borrowed 'The Darkness' for the 360 and played that last night and will part of the day today before it has to go back to Blockbuster. Not a 'bad' game per sae but just not something that I expected. Even though the game was done by the guys who did Riddick, there are still some areas in which they could have used improvement, like when Jackie talks, his mouth hardly moves. The Darkness moves and creatures (especially the 'darklings' who crack you up) are done well but it is just a bit too slow for me at the moment. Maybe it will pick up but as of right now I am glad that I did not rush out and buy it. Overlord is looking very promising. The PC version is pretty sucky so I am sure that the fluidness of the 360 will make this game a keeper.

But as far as today goes... I can't wait to get back onto Gears of War. Talk about a GREAT game for my first 360 game !!! Wow and double wow !!!

Well I finally picked up X-Men legends for $5 yesterday, after being wowed by Ultimate Alliance in the store earlier. It's not perfect but I like it. Lots of nice little touches like smashing through the walls, a very thorough line up of X-Men (even Jubilee is a playable character!) and a lot of story elements from the comic. It really does "feel"like the comic a lot of the time (except when my team of X-Men is in an epic battle with a cabinet to see if it has items in it  ). I especially like the flashback stages (can't wait for the Weapon X one!), I wish there was more of them (I read Dark Phoenix doesn't have a flashback stage :( )

So is X-Men Legends 2 redundant, worse or better than the first?

Just bought Civ 4 and have playde that a little bit. Still looking to solve my Dune fix (started reading the House trilogy). Until I get a copy I will probably be messing around with Civ.

I've got Civ 2, 3 and 4. Honestly, the one I like the best is 2.

The engine that determines the outcome of the battles on 3 is the most maddening thing ever. You spend all this time researching cheat codes and building units and doing technological advancements and NOT attacking your neighbours and then when you strike out to convert by the sword, your enemy carrying spears and riding on horseback defeat your tanks and missile batteries. That is total horse droppings.

With 2, the cheat mode is easy to get to and your enemies are easy to subvert. It's really what I look for in a game.

I never really gave 4 a solid chance. My sister gave me a $20 gift card so I bought it (it was either that or SuSe 9.2) at Hastings. I didn't like it too much.

I seem to recall it being a tick better, but it's been a while. Ultimate Alliance really seemed to hit the nail on the head. The new FF game bites, though.
