Power Records anyone?

Everything else comic-related that's not VALIANT-related.

Power Records anyone?

Post by kelargo »

Does anyone remember Power Records comics?
It was a comic bundled with a 45 rpm record.

for example:

Does anyone know anything about the publisher?
or the people who created these?
or a complete list of titles?

thanks,
Ken

I remember having star trek ones...but they were 33's and may have even been associated with the cartoon...

There were a lot of DC Power Records books in the 70's, too, including a Bats one with Neal Adams art. ;)

I had a Journey Into Mystery record/comic book that reprinted the first appearance of Thor. I about wore that record out playing it and reading the book that came along with it when I was a kid. I don't know if it was put out by the same company you are talking about or not, but it sure was cool.

I found this web site...
http://www.further-adventures.com/radio ... 01376.html

the guy is making fun of those old records...
its pretty funny...

I have this specific star trek one... I dont have a record player
any more and I dont know what it sounds like.. I'd like to preserve the
sound into an mp3...

I wonder who created these? I read somewhere on the web about Neal Adams, too.

The Marvel ones from 1966 were from Golden Records. The Power records were from Whitman, I believe. There is a whole bunch of comic related records out there, including LP covers by Frazetta (I don't mean Molly Hatchet), & tons by the infamous Jack Davis. There is an original rock album from 1975 about Spider-Man, with Romita art. I have a cool one for monster fans called "Famous Monsters Speak", from 1963.

There was a big warehouse find of these that was still floating around 6-12 months ago. There was a very successful ebay seller who had acquired dozens to hundreds of each of them from the find. He sold them one compete set at a time (I think there are like 30) and would list another one right after the current one sold. The sets topped $100-$200 easily. When he had one left of one of the books (and more of all the others), he cashed out with a wholesale auction, and sold all he had left, which was 500 or more of them. I can't rememeber the final price on that auction.
