This auction:

was the highest I'd seen for it, but according to the auction, there was another copy that went higher than that.

while these 2 are not exactly what you are talking about it does raise some questions for me..The cheap one was listed in the action figures section and should have gone for a little more...
here is a #1 on comiclink

I think that is a little high, but I seem to recall a $3500 auction for this book on ebay...I think that $3500 is more reasonable than $10K still a lot of cash...and really $3500 might not be that crazy depending on what the raw book grades out at...

That 9.6 is a beaut. It is probably the highest grade this book will receive. It's an impossibly difficult book, because (A) the paper is cheap; (B) the cover stock is cheap; (C) no one was grade anal, even in the 80's.DawgPhan wrote:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... eName=WDVW

I still have my damn #1 sitting here, waiting to be graded. The next show I would be willing to go to to have them graded is Long Beach, which is March. Apparently WW Texas is soon? (too lazy to research

I'm going to be out in South Carolina in December, so maybe I'll go down to FL then, BUT...word on the street by those in the know is that books graded at SHOWS are receiving higher than normal grades....
So...maybe I'll go to Texas. I dunno, I haven't decided. I don't know anyone in Texas.

$5-$15, depending on the day, assuming it's NM.kelargo wrote:I have the 3rd printing of this...
any idea on where that one stands?
thanks,

I still can't believe I bought my Turtles #1 in '99 for $66 total. Absolute stroke of luck. And I was debating, cause it was 'half guide' at the time, and I hate paying half guide for anything.

Yeah, I agree...a turtles #2 in 9.6 for only $187 is a steal. I shoulda bid.Brother J wrote:I'd hold onto any high grade copies of the early, magazine size editions of TMNT. It seems like it's a lot harder to find magazine size comics in high grade, I guess a lot of people are too cheap to invest in magazine size bags, boards and boxes.
