If anyone else has any ideas, by all means, please share them. Now that I know that Joe Petrilak has material of comparable worth, and comparable stature, and is related material that I am interested in, to what he owes me, the "$1,000 cash" option is off the table....which I never wanted in the first place.

Why don't you give some examples of what's up that you feel would be comparable? Meaning, what combination of items would be a fair resolution to that transaction? It's possible that if you gave some examples of combinations of art that you find acceptible to fulfilling his obligations that he'd possibly comply? :hm: Just a thought. :thumb:

So, the items are all no longer available? You pulled all the auctions...

I appreciate you getting hope up on this site that we all might have a chance to own some of those great pieces just to yank them back.

Just to let you know... My single favorite piece of Valiant art happened to be in one of your auctions. I had every intention of doing everything in my power to win that auction. That one auction alone could have gone a long way towards getting ZWH squared. It's art I've tried to track down for several years. It's something I covet HIGHLY. ...& now you yank that opportunity away. I kinda feel like my emotions are being played with now... :(

I don't know...that's out of my area of expertise, which is why I invited Dan, CKB, Hillman, BTE, and of course, yourself, and anyone else who has more experience in that area to give their suggestions.

I can tell you what the COMICS are currently "worth" (haven't added them up)....but I don't know about the art, and would need some help with that from fair people.

I DO KNOW that I would be happy to get pieces like the Shadowman #13 cover, the Rai card art, the Shadowman card art...at FMV in "trade".

Joe Petrilak has now pulled ALL of his auctions, by the way.

It seems weird to sell what I think would have come out to $3K plus worth of material in order to send someone $1K. I would think the two Shadowman covers (snake + mask), the X-O 4 color cover, and one of the Unity color covers, would more than cover the debt for the books.

Zeph would be crazy not to be able to come to some terms using that stuff against the debt owed. He's not crazy.

Agreed, & I think 3k would be a very conservative estimate.

So? Is this Zeph's fault that the auctions were pulled?

Is Joe going to spin this so people will think it is?

Some how. Some way. Zeph will be labeled the bad guy.

Again.

Total BS.

By the way....as most of you know, I'm not in this community to "make money." I've never sold ANYTHING to anybody here, and I don't intend to start.

I also want to make sure that everyone gets what they really, really want.

If an "art for comics" trade can be arranged" (doubtful, now), and there are art pieces someone really wants, let me know.

For example....the only pieces that I really, REALLY want are the card art (Rai #6, #7) and the Shadowman #13 pencils. Everything else, if someone else in the community REALLY wanted it, I'd be happy to take that off the table completely and let you work something out...well...with Joe Petrilak.

As well, if someone has books they want to trade me for art, that'd be cool, too.

All, of course, predicated on something working out. :hope:

I dont' see that happening, but you may be right. Wouldn't be the first time. :)

Could I be *SQUEE* I did not get a chance at some of that stuff - yes, but it's not worth it. I am gratified just to know they still exist. I'm chalking it up to miscommunication.

OK -on another topic - Can someone tell me what the heck "Tales of Turok" is???? I seriously have no clue! :)

That's what Brian was saying, too.

Are the Shadowman pencil covers "worth" $500 or so? I truly have no idea, as I own maybe 15 pieces of OA, from junky books like Bloodshot #26 that I paid $10 each for. ;)

My one truly nifty piece is the Micronauts cover.

How much does anyone think that would be worth?

Z,

The very instant I saw Joe's auctions I thought similarly to what you wrote...based on what I've read this week.

I do not think what you are asking is at all unreasonable, all things considered. I'm an optimist and I can only hope that Joe canceled his auctions so that he could sort things out.

It REALLY doesn't have to go any further than this. There's money owed, Joe is in possession of Valiant material that would make a reasonable substitute. Fed-Ex those bad boys...case closed!

Agreed. Joe Petrilak is in possession of Valiant material that would make a reasonable substitute. Not all of it (the art)...but certainly a fair chunk of it. Someone help me come up with what is a FAIR replacement value for the books that are owed (detailed above), then send it out.

Seems a very fair resolution to me, especially considering that (this is speculation, now) Joe Petrilak probably obtained this material for a lot less than the comparable books, and art has appreciated far higher than comics have in the last 7.5 years.

Joe P's stock went up a couple of ticks for me when he pulled the Shadowman cover when it was pointed out that it was card art and not cover art. I don't believe he was trying to mislead anyone and genuinely wanted to represent his stuff properly.

It is somewhat suspicious that all the auctions have been pulled, but I hope that is another step towards a resolution.

He has said he pulled them so that a proper deal can be struck. If zwh wants stuff instead of $ then its probably best he doesn't sell the stuff.

I figure the only people who'd accept ZWH as the villian of the 7.5 year transaction are the one's who have an existing conflict with him and are willing to use this as fodder for an agenda. Zeph's in the right here, everyone knows it and the board is (from what I'm reading) overwhelmingly in support of this debt being paid to his satisfaction.

The worst label to come out of this for Zeph?

Fussy.

I thought that was a possibility, but he added around 30 more auctions to the initial 40 he put up after he made the comment about pulling them. Why comment about pulling 40 auctions, add 30 more auctions the next day, & then pull all 70 that evening?

Maybe because it would be easier to just relist them once greg gets them all the major work is done..... :hm: I hope thats the case....

Can someone fill those who know nothing about any money owed in on what the heck just happened?

Who owes who what?!?

Personally, I am VERY disappointed that all these auctions were pulled. It would have been great to see just how much this would have generated. If there was a personal disagreement between board members over moneys owed, then it should have been addressed before the auctions were listed, especially in the AMOUNT. Everyone was given so much exposure to these auctions, and THESE auctions were like the Nicholas Cage collection of the Valiant scene.

Since the auctions were pulled, I think everyone on the board deserves a full explanation about what this is all about, especially since WE were the target audience to sell the stuff to - my two cents.
