I finally started a "pull-list" at the LCS and this was my first title to put on it. How embarassing. Now I am gonna have to put my Star Wars books on it just to keep it active.

I enjoyed the series a lot at first, but now 6 issues in and it still feels like set-up. I know this is the pace of modern comics, but I hate it. One of the things I loved about Shooter's writing is how much he would cram into one issue, you really felt like the story and characters were progressing every issue.

I hope when it comes back there is a new artist. Larroca can be good at times but he's real inconsistent and struggles with faces. It's really annoying how all the characters look like famous actors. Kenneth Connell is not Sawyer!!! :!:

Now that that's off my chest, I will be picking up #7 if and when it comes out. :P

I didn't know that . .

I have the books all waiting for me . . . I figured I would get 10 or so and then read them all together . . . guess that might take a while now . . .

Any word? LCS owner doesn't know anything besides the fact that I told him about the hiatus. I am really missing this title in my reading. Although, I did fill that slot with The Boys, thanks to everyone who recommended that title.

Hmm, since I wasn't buying new comics for a couple months during my move, I never picked up #6, so I didn't know the story was supposed to continue past that. When I saw nothing came out past #6, I assumed it was a mini, glad ThrillKill bumped this thread. :thumb:

New Universal set to return in the beginning of 2008. :?

I have read this statement around the internets but I haven't found a concrete interview saying as much. Anyone have anything concrete, this was probably one of my favorite newer comics out and I would really like to know.

The only info I have is Ellis sent out to his mailing list he was waiting on the new artist to get free to commence working on newuniversal. That was a few months ago.

Wonderful to hear the news that New Universal isn't dead in the water. I've really enjoyed the first 6 issues and hope they contninue to get better. So far, I'm not all that bothered by the changes Ellis has made to the characters. But then again, I never really liked the old Nightmask anyway. So having the new Nightmask be an attractive female doesn't bother me in the slightest.

It is very slow going having to mix the stories of multiple characters into a single issue, but I can understand how breaking it into multiple titles would be too much for now.

Hopefully, the new Starbrand can get a grip soon and stop crying like a little girl. Also glad to see that Justice has a better excuse this time for being confused mentally than in the original series. I very much liked the new explanation for why the White Event happend and how the four main characters are always the first incarnations of powered people to appear in order to guide the rest. Having the Nightmask knowing(via the probe in the superflow) what is going on to explain it to everyone else is a great touch. Neat seeing Spitfire getting built properly now that Jenny can hear the machines talking. I even liked the archeologist discovering the remains of the city where the previous Big4 held sway in the past. Neat to see what is possible when they all work together. Of course, things won't go that smoothly for the current group.

Can you imagine anyone trying to talk Justice into laying down so that they can cut the bullet out of his brain? Maybe the Starbrand would be able to heal him quickly, but I'm not sure. I don't remember it ever being used to heal another. Also loved seeing Emmet Proudhawk and therefore salivating about what might be in store for a soon to be Psi-Force! 8-)

Can't belive how much ahead of it's time the old stories were. Looking back now at the 'regular people now with powers learning to deal with life and new strange situations instead of taking up crime fighting'...sounds very much like a popular NBC tv series that I've become addicted to over the last couple years. ;)

I also agree that this format may well be the way to go for a Valiant relaunch. One issue for awhile, telling multiple stories , before (hopefully) branching off into multiple titles. Can't wait to see Volume 2 of New Universal, and with luck, some new Valiant stuff to compare it to before long. :D

I never read any of this stuff when I was younger. I've seen some of the 'old stuff' in the $1/quarter bin at my LCS but never gave it much attention. The only reason I know it exists is because of these boards...

I just started using DCBS as my monthly comics supplier and realizing the amount I was saving while making my purchases I decided to splurge and purchase a copy of the 'New Universal: Everything Went White' Hardcover thats due out in March from this months previews based solely off the positive reviews I've read around here.

Here's hoping I'm not disappointed! (otherwise there might be HC up on the 'For Sale' section before too terribly long). :thumb:

whoa I missed this, I assumed this book was dead. New artist looks promising. 'Fell' finally came back a few weeks ago, I guess Ellis is finally getting around to his good comics.
