Enough to say hey, don't forget about us. For me, I would prefer to get some an all-new run on those titles along with an HC reprint. HC collection after HC collection may not inspire a huge following for new fans, afterall they could have picked up alot of these books over the last five-ten years for pretty much what the HC reprint will cost them. The $24.95 is ridiculously low, though that will help. But I want the HC reprint. BTW I told my LCS to order 2 for me.
Point well made. This has to be the start, a foundation of sorts, but throwing a lot of books out is going to overwhelm new fans. If there are $200+ worth of hardcovers, then that is pretty intimidating. The new stuff, even if it tips its hat to what has gone before, needs to feel a fresh enough start that new readers aren't scared off by the scale of investment required.
It depends on the purpose... Suppose they plan to start over at (or after) Unity. They may want to release all the pre-Unity material in hardcover format so that new fans can get the early stuff easily at their LCS.

The new stories could be independent of the early stories & yet still be interconnected. Meaning, you don't need the early stories to jump on at the relaunch, but say an all new fan (who has never read Valiant before) picks up the new Harbinger line & really enjoys it. That fan would have an easily accessible hardcover of Harbinger available to read the early stories to get an even more complete 'picture' of what Harbinger is about.

This is, of course, just speculation & has no basis in reality other than the possibility that I might have guessed well. :thumb:

Fair comment, however I think TWK and I were posting about the suggestion by MOTA of swamping the market (which is not yet re-established) with a significant number of hardcovers being released. As great as that would be for existing fans, there is no sense in VEI just releasing according to the tastes of this board alone - they will need new readers, and to remain a viable publisher risk needs to be borne safely.

I think VE should release one new HC every two months or so (9 HCs in 18 months) and have each come come with a completely new story (like the Origin of Harada by Shooter and Hall) that's related to the story that's being reprinted.

This way they do both at the same time, a new story and an old one.

That sounds better. Your previous post sounded like releasing a glut of 'em.

That said, I hope to see new stuff not in hardcover reprints sooner rather than later. In other words VEI - new comics please...

Now that's support! I ordered one down here at Trade-a-tape in Lincoln, hopefully that will get them to order a few more than they would have.

Guys, if you can't find a shop to get you copies, I will take pre-orders for them till the 25th of the month, at 20% off cover price plus shipping. My store info is below.

I am a huge Valiant fan, and not just a reseller, and do pretty decent mail order business in the store, which has been open for close to 14 years. We ship worldwide and have a great mail order discount for comics and graphic novels. Let me know and I will make sure you are taken care of.

I talked to my LCS guy today and made my order. I asked him if he was going to order any for the shop besides just preorder folks. I was kinda surprised that he acted a little hesitant on ordering more. I told him that he can't get any better than 25 bucks for a hardcover with that many pages and a new Shooter story to boot. He quickly agreed and left the Previews book open on the counter and said he was going to show it to his customers.

I would love to see a hardcover of just Magnus 0-4 with all of the extra pages and stuff they were going to do for Steel Nation Vol I & II (http://www.valiantcomics.com/Valiant/im ... natmed.jpg)

It was expanded to 128 pages so that would be a nice HC for new and old fans alike. I just wonder if Valiant Ent. has access to the unpublished material.

Aha!

As I thought, Previews also ran an editorial piece on the return of VALIANT in their Splash Page section.

Here you go.

Oh so they are using the "Harbinger" mark, thought maybe they were gonna go with "Harbinger: The Beginning" to try to sidestep the TM issue for now.

I did notice the one ad says Valiant Entertainment LLC and the other says Valiant Entertainment, Inc.

And "Bloodshot" and "Shadowman" (can't see what it says next to X-O) are Reserved. Very nice. Good to get that Bloodshot mark in use.

With all of this trademark crap going on, they'd be better off doing the LLC wouldn't they?

LLC and Inc. are basically the same thing. Just one cost more then the other.

LLCs and Corporations are both limited liability structures. The main difference between the two is taxation.
