I'm not sure it was a good deal, but dang if it didn't make me happy. I can't wait to get this one framed!

All right, so I went to the convention this past weekend and was disappointed becuase that clown from Neatstuff beat me to all the books I wanted. Sad, but it worked out for the better. If he headn't done that, I wouldn't have been able to afford the art shown in the picture below. I'm the fat bald guy in the picture, Herb Trimpe is standing next to me. And I'm holding my latest artwork acquisition.

Image

It's a re-creation, but dang if it ain't sweeeeeet!
All of the lettering is stat, he said that's how it was done back in the day.

It just makes me want to dance! Image

Good question. I don't think so. Pretty sure I've seen off-centered 9.8s before. Might want to ask this question in the Professional Graded section. And that's an outstanding price for all that swag. :thumb:

That was a good lot. I saw the Rai3 listed but couldn't tell in the picture if it was actually Rai 3 or the Magnus flip book. So I didn't bid. Glad it worked out for you. :thumb:

I went to a convention today. Spent a little over 100. My best buys were as follows: Magnus 12, for 18(he gave me 7 bucks off because of the others I bought,)which were: XO 5, Rai 8, Magnus 4, 9, 11, Archer and Armstrong 0, Harbinger 5 & 6...5 buck a piece. All were in NM. I also got a load of Bloodshot, Magnus, later Rai, some secret weapons, a full trio of Secrets of VU, a Rai Companion, some Solar, some XO...it was great. Nothing was in less than fine. I mostly buy for the read, but I also like knowing that the investment is there from the start. I had a great time, met Lou Ferrigno, Louis Gosset Jr, Peter Mayhew. No Valiant Artists-in fact, no artists I really cared about, for the most part-although I met one guy who said he was talking to Acclaim but it never came to anything and then they went bellyup. So, was that a good score, my pile? Thoughts? I'm very pleased. I now have very few holes in Pre-Unity...Vintage Magnus and Magnus 0, Rai 1-5 in regular form(I have the TBP), XO 2-4 in regular form and that is that. I am very pleased, lol

Thoughts?
Does that mean you paid $5 each for those books? If so..... well, you are happy and that's all that matters, but you can get most of what you listed there (including the Magnus 12 for $18) for a lot less either through this site or ebay.

Not trying to rain on your parade. Just trying to save you some $ in the future.

rain on a parade? nah, lol. it's ok. They are actually in better condit than I thought. There was a grading booth, and they were doing single lots,10 books or more, and I gave them a stack of 20 to do "onsite" qualification, to see if they'd be worth grading. The guy said they were at least NM, but he would pay mint prices for them. Oh, and yes, they have the coupons. I know I took a little bath on the Magnus 12, but, I don't deal with E-Bay too much-especially since my card is at the limit now, due to school books for upper division courses-but I've had a heck ofa time finding it. I didn't know the next time I would find a copy. I went back, and the same dealer saw me, called me over and said he wanted to give me something, but to come back later. I did, and I actually bumped into someone who turned out to be Squirrel buying books at the same table. The dealer as it turns out, had found the XO 1/2 I was looking for. I bought the last two issues of XO and he threw in the 1/2 free. "I think I added it up wrong yesterday" he said. So, I don't have any hard feelings. The guy was a decent seller, and though his stuff was priced a little high, I think he made up for it by giving me a freebie.

Hey Squirrel, if you read this, did you get any of the books -ie, PUNX-you were looking for? I looked around for those as well, both days, and I had advance tix yesterday. I didn't find any of them. I wish I'd had the $ for those Rai, Harbingers, XO's, but I'd blown it all on getting books I didn't have in regular or trade form.

It's sad, folks, but as big and XO fan as I am, I've only got XO 1 in regular edition, of those three series first 4 issues. I went cheap and TBP'd my way through reading them. I'll catch up one day. I did manage to snag enough Dr. Mirage's-at 50 cents a book-to finish up that series. I mostly did the 50 cent bins last two days. It really does add up, man oh man oh man. This was just a great last two days. I am almost done with Secret Weapons, Eternal warrior, Magnus, XO, Eternal Warrior, Solar, H.A.R.D Corps. Indeed, most of the series. I can finally read A&A in one sitting, ditto Mirage. Bloodshot is about 80% complete. Only have a few Harbinger to get. I even got some Timewalker and Geomancer. Oddly, I couldn't find Armorines or PSi-Lords at a decent price-one place had bad copies for 1.25 and up-and as for Visitor...nonexistent. Unless I was looking in the wrong places, and I spent 4 hours each of the last two days scouring all the boxes I could. All in all, these last two days were great for my collection, although ye old wallet is going to need a rest for a while.

Not amazing by any means, but I picked up a "story pack" of HARD Corps 1-12 for $2 and the #5 was the Comic Defense issue I needed.

I'm finding it very hard to score any of the amazing deals some of you guys manage to find.

I know it is not Valiant related but here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... &rd=1&rd=1

One of 24 auctions where I won DNAgents (vol 1) 1-24 for $.05 cents a piece. Thats the entire 24 issue run for $1.20 and when they arrived they were all in PRISTINE condition. :thumb:

Please no bidders with negative feedback or i will cancel your bid.
Yeah, that's realistic. Maybe he should change that bit now that he has a negative himself. Not a bad price if you needed the books though.

That's a good deal, but the seller has 10 bucks shipping (what it really cost you, which is still good).

The seller is shipping via US media mail :!: for ten bucks :o (I guess that's how he'll make money; less the actual shipping cost, the rest of the shipping charge is milk money).

Yeah, but you can "neg" him on shipping charges with the new feedback system.

I would request this buyer send the comics in a box.

I bought a Solar run from him and it showed up as a stack with a backing board on either end taped together and then thrown in an envelope. Very poorly packed.

When I complained to him he sent me the difference between what he charged for shipping and what the actual shipping cost was ($2.50). He full well knows he is ripping people off for shipping, and he flat out told me he was doing it to milk more money from the auction.

I've bought from sellers like that before and the books are usually garbage when they arrive because of their cheapness and stupidity. I just demand my money back from time wasters like that.
