Um... that's pretty much it.

I was wandering around SDCC last year and buying happy fun comics. I end up at their table, decide to purchase one of their books (I chose poorly - I picked X-Isle #1, probably because it started with an X, and it sucked) and tried to pay with a $2 bill. I ended up breaking a $100. Man was that ever a mistake.

Punisher War Journal... WOW The Ariel Olivetti art on this is AMAZING..highly recommended

Fell...great book, can't believe I didn't pick it up earlier

Fables..The writing is clearly very good but I need to read a few more issues to get into it I think.

And I'm trying to pick up copies of Justice on the cheap..

Yeah I think that Punisher War Journal totally rocks right now (I believe that I called it War Zone in my list oops) and has good art. Punisher rocks... MAN, I get in on the good characters SO late in the game).

A good thing that you are getting in on Justice now as 12 issues = 12 months and that is TOO long to keep my interest. I have all current issues in my to read box now so I can read it from begining to end without losing the storyline somewhere within the confines of a year long period.

If you like Punisher the old War Journals were always some of the better stories. One great run though was "The Jigsaw puzzle" from issue #35 in the regular Punisher series.

But this new series really took me by surprise. Best Punisher I've read in a long time.

And yeah, nooo way I'm waiting 12 months for Justice...not including the f@cking delays it had

See thats just it... I have NEVER read The Punisher up until about three months ago when I stumbled upon the current Punisher (V5?) under the MAX emblem. It must have been all the cussin', swearing, killin' and ultra violence that caught my eye but this MAX stuff is incredible. Punisher is currently in Russia (where I am at in the reading, I think issue #17 or 18) and kicking some big time butt with this Delta guy who is all over the place.

So I am JUST diggin' The Punisher... and to think I REALLY used to scoff at that character.... (damned X-Men)

Come to think of it I have the oppurtunity to start two "brand new dead" universes this year with New Universal and the Harbinger HC and possible relaunch.

Justice was solicited either for every other month or every three months, much longer than a year to be patient for. You'd think on a series like that which is a guaranteed sell, they'd wait till more of it was ready to go, and put it out monthly, but I obviously don't know anything about business, so why am I typing out of my fartbox. I too like the Ennis Punisher run quite a bit though. Depending on what kind of mood you are in, his Hitman may be better, once it gets past the first TPB. I believe you can pick that up around .50 a pop in ebay runs, if you haven't read it and like his Punisher, you really should. It's pretty much a less serious Punisher, with X-ray vision. Excellent supporting cast.

I 'may' try this but I am SO terrible about 'collecting ANOTHER line of books' that I have to watch myself. Within a 30 day period I have added 3-4 more titles (Dead Universes in part but still MORE books when I have yet to finish Valiant (to 100%), Crossgen, Ultraverse and other book titles here and there...as in so many that I would probably forget 25% of what I collect if I had to make a list right here and now).

NOT to mention that some of my 'Dead Universes' are now coming back to life which may diminish my Dead Universe section a bit what with New Universe back in publication and Lord knows who else will get revamped, you never know, you could see a few Ultraverse characters brought back in the future. Wouldnt that be cool ? A much grittier Hardcase, Firearm, The Solution or even Prime ?

So far, the New Universe (NewUniversal) revamp has been VERY pleasing.

I dont know why or WHAT brought this about but The Punisher 'awareness' that I am currently experiencing has been FANTASTIC. Now keeping in mind I have only been reading the Ennis MAX series which is blowing me away but I imagine that some of the earlier stuff is a rather good read as well. I have been told the War Journal is a very good read and cant wait to get my hands on some of those issues but the recent stuff (which I am negotiating a deal for issues 1-40 for $36 shipped :o ) has really got me going. Maybe it is the ultra violence or something but Castle to me is just plain BAD... *SQUEE*. I have to to get going (get my hands on) on Punisher War Journal V2. (trembling lower lip, "geez, I am even looking at getting a Punisher (movie style) t-shirt... WHATS happening to me ? )

Puberty? :hm:

40 for 36 shipped is amazing for recent still popular stuff, especially considering that they likely had a 2.50-3.00 cover price. Older Punisher runs can be had even more absurdly cheap if you hold out for good ones. Aside from ASM 129, Marvel Premiere 2, Giant-Size Spider-Man 4, and Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe (first printing), there just are not a lot of pricey Punisher books. I've got a friend working on every appearance he had, so I did a bit of research for him during my frequent copious internet time at work (like now).

I hear what you are saying about too many titles at once. Once I get the giant lot I started on catalogued, bagged and boarded, I'm going to continue my aggressive attack on First, I just started Crossgen and pick up Malibu books when I see them in other auctions from someone I'm already buying from, I've got the Shooterverses, my Sam Kieth obsession, my hardcover habit, my new issues, and my more "traditional" back issue purchases (which mostly don't happen except during sales and conventions now, unless I really need a fix) which the current focus of is Galactus appearances. I really should have bought a Silver Surfer 1 a long time ago (I haven't actually looked since the more frequent movie ads started, but I assume it's moved out of what I want to pay for such a not quite a key book), but it's the pricier of the two 1960's Galactus appearances I still need.

Puberty ? God, I hope not at 40 yrs !!! But then again, I am hornier than an 18 year old most of the time, yeesh my poor wife.

Send me your 'needs list' on The First, I bet that I have extras that you might need.

I just saw an incredible old Punisher books auction go on Ebay to one of our board members today for MUCH less than what I paid for the recent issues I scored, so there IS hope out there for some great deals on the old Punisher books. I was thinking that there MUST be a glutton of Punisher books out there as he was very 'in' at one point and I always scoffed at the character. Now I see it as a totally different genre of books.

I definatlely impulse buy though when something catches my eye during the week. As far as Crossgen goes though, that is a Dead Universe that I have been trying to gather for at least a year or more and cannot wait to read it. I get stupid and say that I will not read any of the issues until I get them all... now I give them a precursurary 'run' to see if I will like it and when I do and officially add it to the list well, it just gets in my blood and I dont let it go. I like hunting for books as much as I like reading books. Although, I think I might be self destructing because I collect 'Dead Universes'.... meaning book titles/companies that have a 'finite' number of issues. One day I WILL have collected everything that I want to collect and then sit down to read them, finish them... and then what ?

One thing is for certain, I cannot stand paying current prices for books. Because in a few months time, you will see them in the $.50-$1.00 bin at a convention somewhere or up on Ebay. I have a complete run of Ultimate Fantastic Four that I plan on putting up on Ebay soon and I am SURE that I will not get HALF of what I actually paid for it.

I have taken to re-reading chunks /runs of books in the last year or two (fueled by getting the DU bug - damn that thing can be virulent). As such I am currently re0reading Supreme Power 1-18 (re-read over the last three days), as well as Supreme Power: Hyperion 1-5 (issue 1 today) and to be followed by Squadron Supreme (current volume) 1-7. Thus far reallly enjoying revisting the books, although the nudity in the SP 1-18 is a bit excessive for my liking (especially whilst reading in bed next to my long-suffering other half... ).

Otherwise good stuff. :thumb:
VEI - I look forward to you one day publishing MORE than 9-10 books per month

I was reading Fallen Angel, Transformers, Noble Causes, Savage Dragon, and Rex Mundi before I had money problems that forced me out of comics for close to 18 months now. Now I'm thinking about just buying TPBs (or hardcovers) and getting out of the single issues all together.

Great books. Red Menace is excellent as well. Cap has never been better. I had to pick up both the trades and singles on all the new Cap stuff.
