So what the hell does Neatstuff mean?

I see two things of theirs I want to get ... what the hell is the total shipping and handling?

Their auction says this:

Please add $5.00 for U.S. Address Only Shipping
Want to save on shipping and combine multiple auctions ?
MINIMUM Handling charge $1.50 per auction
for bagging, boarding, writing, scanning, stocking, pulling, packing, etc
First ITEM is FREE handling
So buy 100 auctions $148.50 handling !
SORRY, NO FURTHER DISCOUNT ON COMBINING

So ... two comics costs, uh, what?

Wait, if two comics are $6.50 then 100 should be $153.5 but its $148.5 so maybe two comics is $3

So the shipping is $5 no matter how many, and they just keep tacking on that $1.50 handling for every comic after that?

So basically, it appears that he doesn't want to sell a lot of books.

really do we need to talk about enat stuff every few weeks? They will charge you too much for shipping..then several months later send you the wrong thing. Then you have to hassle with them to get your right order. It arrives after a few more months, but it is overgraded. If that sounds like fun to you, then go right ahead and do it. Plus they screw up ebay by posting some many auctions. Also they clearly have some deal with ebay about the listing fees. I mean how many times have they listed all of those .01 books that have never sold? Also ther shipping/handling charges are just a way to circumnavigate ebay's FVF's which should be against ebay's rules, but ebay doesnt care. :!:

After further review, I decided not to buy any more crap from them. I've bought from them before, and got what I asked for, but the interminable wait and the excess shipping and "handling" charges are BS.

I like the line about "100 comics for only $143 shipping" as if that's a bargain. I would like to tell the readers of this website that I've shipped 150 comics by ups for roughly $30. Where does the other $113 go?

Wait a minute.. :o

The thing that I really dont like about Neatstuff is the fact the the "shipping & handling" charges have shot up in the last 6 months...what happened to make me pay more for the same service. 6 months ago I think that the shipping charges were $2.50 for the first book and then $.99 after that. They also sold the books for a penny. That way if there were some books that you thought were worth a dollar it was worth it to buy. Now the books are $.99 the first one is $5.00 and each after that is $1.50...I know that the books didnt get better and neither did the service..what is it then...a bigger coke habit? :!:

I think I remember them trying this before where they raised their prices, then they quickly lowered them when sales went down. At least it seemed that way....

I've stopped ordering from Neatstuff again because it was way too much of a hassle getting them to fix the last order of mine that they screwed up. They didn't answer multiple e-mails and when I tried to call their phone number, you get a voice mailbox which is all full. I eventually got through to someone by calling a different department with another phone number I found on their help page.

Keep an eye out for Joe K.'s company, as well (known on eBay as kochcom). I've won mulitple lots from them in recent months and almost every one has been short one or two or more books that I won. He's usually pretty good at getting refunds back to me, but I don't want to always be in the situation where I'm bidding on books which they don't know for 100% if they have in stock.

Joe K.'s not a bad guy...he just doesn't care about his inventory. He knows this, and gives NO attitude about refunds, and if you know this going in, no problem...but I know some folks don't want to deal with it.

These old time comics guys...I just wish they'd retire already.

Yeah, I didn't want to come off like I was bashing Joe, heck, I've done business with him for a long time, long before I had a computer or knew what eBay was. I used to love getting the "Avalanche of Wonder" catalog in the mail, I think I've been ordering stuff from him since the late 80's.

He always apologizes when the stuff isn't in stock and refunds the money, but I always wonder how stuff gets listed if he doesn't even have it. On the positive side, the prices are good, sometimes great, and the shipping is reasonable and works with the buyer who wants to buy a lot of stuff: $5.00 flat fee no matter how much you buy (with certain exceptions, of course)
