reason I ask is everyone seems to bash wizard for some of thier prices, but seem to be pretty inline with wizard when they want to sell one of their books. Overstreet is published once a year, correct? So their prices could be well off on a book that gets hot after they publish thier price guide.

Overstreet used to publish an annual...then a semi-annual...then a quarterly (I DARE anyone to find a quarterly report! ;) )...then bi-monthly...then a monthly price guide called the Overstreet Price Guide Update (catchy, huh?)

This started in 1982 and ran roughly until about...mmm...1993-ish, when they could no longer compete with Wizards all flash and no substance nonsene, at which point they retooled the guide and called it 'Fan'. In about 1996 (someone correct me) they ceased publishing a monthly guide altogether.

Now, they focus on higher end books, with an emphasis on CGC.

Both of them are about 3-7 times what the actual market will bear for NON CGC graded books. They are truly what they claim to be, 'guides'....as in 'this is a GUIDE to what fantasy multiple someone thinks they'd like to get for these books, but in reality, I know that I will get only 10-50% of 'Guide' for just about any given book, on any given day.'

It is helpful in figuring out what the actual dollar amount that fraction will be. ;)

oh, hey, don't believe me? Fair enough.

Point me to ten...yes, TEN...NON CGC eBay auctions wherein the price met or exceeded Guide....

...and I'll point you to 10,000 that did not.

:)
