5000 is low, but you have to remember that lot of folks still won't buy the Acclaim books. I've said all along if you're thinking about collecting them, get 'em while they're still cheap.

Does anyone remember seeing these things displayed at your LCS like Acclaim intended the retailers to use them? (Back in the day of course).

They wanted retailers to poke a hole in the top (they even put a little black dot where the hole goes) and hang them from a chain or string at the check out counter.

i can understand why people may not have been big into the acclaim reboot at the time but surerly after a couple of years they would see that they were all not that bad right????.....right?? :hm:

Eh, there's still a lot of Acclaim hatin going on. Some of it's warranted, but they did do a few things right along the way.

I distinctly remember two comic stores in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago doing the hole punch thing, actually. One of them is out of business now, and the other is a hole in the wall joint that still exists and is run by a guy that we have come to call "The Magic Man"....

NNNNnnice.
Nah, we called this guy that because he has this sort of eccentric demeanor and this uncanny habit to go "hmmm LLlllet me check in the back..." for whenever we ask him about the availability for something, and then he seems to miraculously appear with it.

We think he conjures *SQUEE* up in his "back room" or something. I'd love to get a look back there, but I don't know if I'd live to tell the tale.

The shop I was buying from at the time put them all right into my weekly pile. Great for me, not so great for advertising the books.
