Anybody Remember NOW comics?

Comic universes no longer active, Bravura, Continuity, CrossGen, Future, Malibu, Ultraverse... and others that are 'no longer with us' today (or only recently brought back).

Anybody Remember NOW comics?

Post by IMJ »

They published Ghostbusters and several others. I remember them having really nice paper quality for the time. Come to think of it, I'll bet that many of those are relatively scarce now...

Thoughts?

I have several NOW comics. I think the first non-Marvel (after my Archie phase where it all began) comic I bought was Mr. Lizard's 3-D Adventure.

The main things I remember them doing was the Green Hornet series (never really interested me but I have a bunch of comics that came in bulk eBay lots), Ralph Snart and the Married with Children franchise. A friend of mine down the street had a copy of Quantum Quartet, which was the Bundys cast as the Fantastic Four. I still keep an eye out for that when I am in comic shops.

I was reading the Wikipedia entry about NOW comics a while back, and it mentioned that they collapsed in early 2006, but had stopped publishing in 2005. That made me sad. Also it said that at one point they were the #3 comics company after Marvel and DC.

I liked the Ralph Snart comics, and the spinoff Mr. Lizards. They were a fun diversion where I could turn my brain off. Like Married With Children, I suppose.

I can scan a few covers I have that I did not see in your list.

Mostly the Mr. Lizards and T-Force #2.

I dug the Green Hornet too. He's one of my favorite non-Marvel/DC comic book characters (although he started as a radio show).

Was it NOW or another company that published the Twilight Zone comics?

And was David Campiti involved in NOW as well? He seems to have been involved in just about every other independent company!
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Now published several Twilight Zone comics and specials.

And was David Campiti involved in NOW as well? No, not on any books I know of.

I always thought Now was rocking! They were the first independent I saw after Marvel and DC. It's a shame they did not stick around.

I guess they got killed since they were unable to establish there own universe. They did do a lot of licensed comics. I know Dark Horse was really good at that too.

My daughter loves the Now Ghostbusters. When ever we see them in a .50 box I have to get them for her.

Doesn't matter if she has them. She's a hoarder. :thumb:

Yeah, great stuff. I used to look forward to reading these back in the day. The cover artwork was outstanding.

I might just have to re-read these books very soon. :thumb:
