How much do you think that 1st app of Ghost Rider is going to go for Fred?
Hard to say. It has been a consistant seller on ebay for the past 8 months or so and it is a solid higher grade copy. I'd guess it will go for at least $150.... that being said, I wouldn't be shocked if it ranged from $100-$200 or more. Ebay is funny like that.

siren, yep Unity trades.

No idea about the first one.

Very Fine's suffer from a stigma I asscoiate with them (damn taht might be another one). I always want to bid on some but I end up throwing them away when I get them in hand - which is why I have a lot of half-hearted bids.

I think that this is the second time you have posted this.......

it is quite shocking! Especially considering the type of books you always post....... :o

The other instance (which happens a lot) was for a recent modern. I bag/board all my comics, but if one of my moderns (which I read) come in and doesn't at least look like a strict 9.4, I toss them. No reason to have that book - I don't want it in my permanent stash. That particular case I was a little more *SQUEE* of because they were two copies of the same book and were both variants (I think that was Hulk#100 gray variant)

I really don't spend that much money on my comics, partly because I don't collect rare runs (I just kind of buy what looks cool to me - some of which is expensive, most isn't). I have some expensive books, but I'm not rolling like say how I have seen Hobo buying in the last month or so (who has some real quality purchases lately)! If I buy an expensive book, I will buy it slabbed - thus no worries. My real collecting foucus is Vintage books, and if I spend big (relative) money it will be there.
this leads me to a question...... I think I'll start a new thread......

$104.60 for #1 and $129.50 for #2. I gotta say that I'm surprised to see them go that low when they have been selling for well over $200 a piece for the last few months. I guess they've cooled back off again. That's Valiant for ya.

They're to expensive to hoard. Those who have them don't need them.

Gives other guys a chance to get them without getting into a bidding war.

I was glad to see a board member grab one of the books, but surprised that they went for what they did. What is it with me and these trades? Daniel Jackson" stated that it was the fact that I didn't have bigger pics last time.... oh well. :)

We'll see if I can't find another at some point down the road. Thanks guys... and D, let me know when you get the book.

This was kind of a frustrating batch of auctions for me. I was willing to pay $250 for both, but not really interested in paying $125 for one of them and not getting the other, so in the end I would up with nothing.

You and me both, my friend...you and me both.

Non-NM books after 1980 are worthless.

Until GI Joe #47 sells for $100 in NM, a F/VF copy is 25 cents.

One unexpectedly annoying side effect of buying on eBay the last 8 years is this:

You can tell the difference in my PRE-1998 books from my POST-1998 books....all the books I bought in person are minty, with VERY, VERY little damage, if ANY, especially for ANY Modern book. If it had so much as a spine stress, I threw it back.

However...since "eBay mint" is anything from Poor to actual NM/M, the books I've bought SINCE then have ranged....BADLY....

So, now, I have quite a vast sea of junky crap that I want to get rid of.

That's a blessing AND a curse...I discovered that the VAST, VAST majority of collectors TRULY don't care if a book has a thumb crease, spine stress, whatever, so long as it's "readable."

So, those books I snubbed in 1995 for not being pristine, I could have picked up and sold as "VF/NM" and gotten happy customers....

And, conversely, I now HAVE a lot of those books that hopefully people will want to get. ;)

Jay:I would have probably given you $250 for the pair and it was the number in my head (maybe $270 w/ shipping) when I pmed you (pre-auction) but I thought if I countered back that much lower than your asking price you would take it as me trying to get over.

Jay, I would have accepted $270 for the set with shipping included. I was pmed by several people, but had actual offeres by none. Oh well. I made some money and a few people hapy. :)
