I thought it was a solid start. I can't wait for the second issue.
That Ribic cover to the second printing looks awesome!

So did it sell out because of low orders or because it's actually popular? I'd think retailers would be cautious of the title after how badly the Untold Tales of the New Universe sold.

If retailers initially ordered conservatively, an almost instant sell-out proves it was too conservative, though I'm sure retailers bumped their orders because of the creative team.
Guess only time will tell if it's a success or not.
I've only heard positive things so far on the book.
I'm rooting for it!

Hey, x-omatic! I think you bought some Valiants from me a few years ago here in Phoenix.
I'm hoping this will sell.
I love the characters.

Reprint release date

Post by StarBrand »

Frankly, I ordered 50 copies of the reprint and of the first print both, so I really am trying to support these characters! There was quite a stretch of time I never thought I'd see them again. However, I've decided I'd like to keep eating as well, so I'll probably cut back to five each from now on.
I'm not sure the release date on the reprint yet.
These store owners are pretty busy, so I'll probably just wait until they let me know they're in. lol

Yeah, I was afraid of that. That's what it looked like on Marvel's site but they had a second date (12-28) on there for something, so I was hoping it might have been sooner than later. Did New Universal go to news stands? I'd definately prefer the first printing if I could find it rather than that strange "naked Justice" cover.

That is a weird cover. I'm sure the naked part was Ellis' idea.
Definately wouldn't have seen that from Marvel in the eighties.

Well I read it last night... and was blown AWAY.

Is this 'retelling' the old stories (I presume from the 'white event' happening again) or new stuff ?

Bottom line... I DUG IT.

A reboot.

The white event and the basic types of powers of the three characters in the first issue were mainly intact. Justice actually looked like his NU counterpart and had a similar backstory. Most of the rest of the comic was a bit different from the original NU. Hopefully that's a good thing in the long run.

Issue 2 remains in my 'too read' pile. I hope Ellis stays on board for some time as I think this version could have some real legs in terms of stories and dipping into the concepts that went before. Can't wait to see the DP 7. But still that 'too read' pile - with back issues I have bought lately the too read pile never quite gets done with...

I like the cover.

It reminds me of when Valiant would have the Cover actually happen in the story. (even if it is a little "revisited")

Haven't read #2 yet but looking forward to it :thumb:

I really liked issue 2. The first-prints of the first two issues are getting hard to find already.
I can't wait for issue 3!
