Well, if prices are good now, who's to say they won't be better a month before the movie???

Just FYI - I traded out for this CGC copy JUST to flip later. I am looking for maximum profit... so, convince me.

The prices these books are selling for an insane. Absolutely insane. I've bought a couple dozen Spidey 299s over the years, and paid no more than $5-$8 each.

Now, some guy paid $58 for one?

Raw?

Wow.

Yeah, too rich for my blood. I'd be surprised if it sells for that.

First one was a VF, so that would probably explain the lack of interest in that one, I passed on it myself.

The second one didn't mention gold anywhere in the auction title, so not really that surprising they didn't get a lot of bids on that one.

D'oh! :o

I didn't even notice that, hand that Dunce cap over here...

hmm, I'm thinking that second auction probably isn't really a gold, then. Just a swiped scan. Someone's not going to be happy... :hm:

I saw the one WileyCoyote was listing a while back and did not bid on it because I know I have seen that exact photo used before on other auctions.

Wow.

More than guide for a low grade, non-slabbed Spidey.

Granted, it is what it is....

But it's neither slabbed nor high grade.

Wow.

I was recently (today) interested in a auction from him (her?) and asked for a scan of the book and was told (promptly) he was on vacation in another state until Jan 3 (which admittedly is possible this time of year). I still bid, but not enthusiastically (and didn't win, which now seems like a stroke of luck)
You have to watch out for Wiley...

Why?

Because he doesn't know how to grade.

I bought a boatload of GI Joes in one auction...all graded "NEAR MINT"....

They all were damaged in the way that spines are broken when a box is HALF filled, and the books lean against each other for a period of time (say, 6 months)....the spines, of course, were all broken and mangled.

Then, of course, the guy fought with me harshly.

Be warned: he doesn't understand what "NEAR MINT" means.

So... when exactly is movie-time? I'm seeing crazy prices on raw copies ($85 for eBay raw NM+) and am getting itchy...

Memorial Day-ish....mid May.

But don't wait until then.

Mid-March to mid-April is going to be the best time.
