Question for deadpool fans

Post by Kino »

I've been reading Cable and Deadpool and picked up Deadpool #55 and so far I really like these books. What are some good issues I should be looking for with deadpool? Any good recommendations out there?

The runs by Kelly and Priest are the best :thumb:

We've been talking a lot lately about modern keys on this board. I wonder if Deadpool has enough of a following to call his 1st App "Key".
Although I can't remember if this was in New Mutants 99,100 or something like X-Force 2 or something....

You're right Domino did have her first appearance in New Mutants #98.

One thing though is although the 90s had very high print runs, it seems deadpool is not the easiest one to get such as #54. I don't see too many full runs or collections on ebay compared to other books from that same time period.

Is it me or does deadpool is usually portrayed not as so much as a kick *SQUEE* kind of merc but more comic relief than anything?

I kinda like that.

If Spider-Man had a twisted sense of humour and used a gun, THAT would be DeadPool.

And yeah, I liked it too.

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

Yep looks like we all in agreement.

I really liked the issues where he got to wear Marvel girl's costume then later on when he encountered the the BAD Girls, show off his panties. I thought that was hilarious.

Deadpool rocks!

Did you ever pick up Agent X? The Gail Simone-written issues were fantastic!

I have not picked those up. I am thinking about trying to complete the deadpool series though.

I recomend all the issues written by Gail Simone. She did the last few issues of deadpools run, and most of the issues in Agent X, the quazi sequel to Deadpool that predated Cable/deadpool.

The best issue of deadpool i ever read though, is deadpool #11. Seriously. Great stuff.

I've also rediscovered Deadpool. Or maybe I should say, discovered that not all characters that started out as anti-heroes are unreadable. The recent rash of writers who remembered (say that ten times fast. If you are really bored. Or a complete tool.) that comics are supposed to be fun is a real treat (referring to gentlemen like Dan Slott and Robert Kirkman among others).

If there is any doubt to how much value a writer can add to a character or series, Deadpool is a good example of what quality writing and developing a character can do. You got a unique character that readers are more interested in what he says than what he does. Its without a doubt what more writers need to pay attention to.

I found out how good a read Deadpool was about 3 yrs ago. I managed to put together a complete run with the annuals and specials to boot. I have duplicate issues as well. #12 ("Hey, it's my head"),#37,#44, #54, & #55 are the toughest to find of the bunch but each issue is hilariously funny to me.

Oh yeah! I'd call New Mutants #98 a definately key. To many die hard Deadpool fans to over look this one.
